I was reading my new issue of Newsmax. Vecna Robotics is developing a new robot to help our troops. It is called the Battefield Extraction Assist Robot, or BEAR. It can climb hills, move up a winding forest path, climb up and down stairs. It is equiped with cameras and mikes and can switch from wheels to tracks depending on the terrain and can carry up to 500 lbs. It is scheduled to join military units by 2010. Can you imagine? Little robots scurrying around carrying the wounded. Sounds like Sci-fi...

Sci-Fi would be about right. That is the type of robot that is used to wonder around on MARS.I don't think it was large enough to carry five hundred pounds though. It had the arms to pick up rocks and do some drilling into the martian surface. It scurried around with wheels as I remember.
