Does anyone have a natural remedie cure for hairballs in cats?

My older cat suffers from hairballs alot.Ive tried alot of the stuff from the stores and even from the vet.Does fish oil help?Someone said caramel but i never tried that,its full of sugar,but who knows,maybe it does work.I would appreciate the advice...peanutjar.
