I know a lot of people read it in high school. Did you have to read it in high school? I actually didn't read it until college for an english class. I was never made to read it in high school. I did have the book for some time before I actually read it (it was on my to be read list for a while before I took that english class).

How about you?

I never had to read it in school. I'd heard for years that it was really good and I should give it a read. So last year, I requested it at paperbackswap.com (it was actually the first book I ever requested from the site) and read it. I was very glad that I finally read it.

I had to read this twice in high school, once in junior year, then again senior year. I hated this book, and will never willing read it again.

I didn't read this book until I was in my 30s. I read it because it is considered one of the "classics." I was VERY disappointed in it when I finally read it. I still don't understand what makes it a classic. I thought it was poorly written and very boring.

I never had to read it in school. I read it when I was in my 30s. I chose to read it then because my neices and nephews had to read it in high school and we talked about it. I was excited to read it because I try to read several books from the classics list every year. I don't understand why it gets all the hype that it does. I didn't enjoy it very much at all, but I am glad to say I have read it.

I have not read it yet. I know nothing about it except that it is required reading in some places but for some reason I want to read it. I'll have to look into it to see if it's even a subject that interests me before I run out and buy it.

When I was in high school we had a list of books from which to choose and we had to write book reports and do verbal presentations. But it was a list of about 50 books so we could choose anything from the list that was of interest. I always went with the skinny ones like the Scarlet Letter or 1984 which is probably why I never read Catcher. If I recall it's slightly thicker than those.
