What are some books you had to read for high school?  

back in secondary school, we had to read the most famous novels or our national heroe which is dr. jose rizal. his books which were included in our curriculum were "noli me tangere" or touch me not, and "el filibusterismo" or the filibuster. I actually enjoyed reading it and it really sparked some sense of nationalism in me. ^__^ but I was sad because the main character died and he never succeeded with his revenge.
we also had to read "florante at laura" (florante and laura) which is about 2 lovers and what is all about them, I can't remember anymore. LOL

I read a lot of books in high school, but one I read in both high school and college (last year) was Frankenstein. Even though a lot of my classmates didn't understand what was going on because of the old fashioned language, I really enjoyed it. It was even better the second time! It's such a sad story and I always feel bad for the monster.

Yes, i read a lot in highschool... i still remember Silas Marner, I fell in love with this book and i think i read it about 5 times already... I also love the books of Christopher Pike... Books about the different character or the Wizard of Oz and the Tagalog Version of Wuthering Heights... I love those days when i had all the time in the world to read...

Oh gosh, I read so many books in high school. I know that I had to read at least 8 books just for my 11th grade AP English class. Some of the ones I remember: Woman Hollering Creek, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Song of Solomon, The Posionwood Bible, The Sound and the Fury, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Wide Sargasso Sea, Jane Eyre, Catch-22, Slaughterhouse Five, The Things They Carried, J.B.

Books that I read in High School: Great Expectations,the Oddysey, Beowolf, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet MacBeth and Julius Ceasar, The Lord of the Rings:The Fellowship of the Ring, The Great Gatsby, The Crucible. Those are the ones that I can remember. Also, when I was in the 7th grade, we had an assignment to read at least 8 books. I read 20. I love to read, which came in handy when I got to college. A few novels I had to read there: Candide (twice), Frankenstien, The Oddysey (again), Kafka's Metamorphosis, Hamlet, and at least 20 more I can't remember right now.

We read mostly Shakespeare in high school. We read Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Merchant of Venice. I really don't remember if we read anything else or not.

We dont always call it high school here in the UK. My school was known as a Secondary School. I went there from age 11 (nearly 12) and had aimed to leave at age 16 but stayed on for an extra year until I was 17.

Where my partner came from he did attend a high school although this was also in the UK and he attended between the ages of 13 and 16. As for books I remember reading 'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bronte. I also read a book by Charles Dickens called 'Great Expectations'. Both of these stories were set in the 1800s.

I know a lot of people have to read Shakespeare but I dont recall having to read it unless we read it in lessons. The above books I have mentioned I had to read at home as part of my homework. I also remember having to read another book which I think might have been Aldous Huxley 'Brave New World'. It was wierd and people were wearing zip up underwear!! I think they had to eat strange food as well from what I recall.
