My mum and internet service

I was just talking recently to my mum and we chat for few minutes.She said, she cound not call sooner, becuase somebody come to her house to promote new internet service.I really panic, when I hear that, because, she didn't know the woman and she let her go inside the house.I just think today we watch news and every day happend something bad and if you don't know the person, we never know what can happen.Am I too much worried?If somebody come to promote business do you let him go inside or you talk to him in front of your door?

That would worry me. Here no one comes to our homes to talk about internet service. It is always handled over the phone. So I'd be worried for that reason alone, because if it were here, it would smack of a scam.
