College textbooks are too expensive!  

There are second hand stores & some college bookstores even have a reused section. You'll have to check your area though.

i can't agree with you more. maybe you can buy it from internet or buy a secondhand book. i believe information and knowledge will never out of season.

Yes, they are crazy expensive! Have you tried Ebay,or the yellow pages for a second hand bookstore! I use to get mine second hand when I could! It sucks, how expensive they are! So what are you going to school for?

My daughter found a good deal on www.e-campus.com (I think that's the link) and they also paid for her shipping/handling. I believe she got an almost-new text book for half price. But don't get all your books there. She found another book at www.half.com (again not sure of the URL, just google) and got a better deal for her marine biology class there than at e-campus. I guess you might have to sacrifice a Saturday morning researching the net. Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Saturay.

That high cost of text books has made higher education very expensive. In my opinion, there must be some control of the Government on this matter to make higher education with in reach of many aspirants. Otherwise higher education will be a fashion of the higher income group only! Also college library provisions for books must be enhanced at the same time for the welfare of many needy students. Let us hope for the best and think very effective actions on this! Thanks for this nice discussion.

I think you should try to check some local newspaper, i don't know how there , but here I saw so many people selling the college books.Or maybe put it to the google and find some website.I have seen in amazon so many books so much cheaper.
I remember when i was in college we didn't have neough books, you cannot buy them only borrow them from library and there were maybe five books and we were 20 students.So we have to copy it and girl, that was really expensive in that time.Also I remeber my brother need one book for his study and it costs 200$, what is a lot on my country, but he keeps the book and he can use it all his life.

yea,, during my college days i needed one Book about the "Integrated Electronics"- by Milman Haikas.. it costs me around 6000 Rupees at that time. I spesk of those days some 15 years back.
Even today at this rate it works out to be 150 US dollars.
Luckily one of my friend lent his book.
I xeroxed the entire book and it cost me around 1000 ruppee, though i violated the copyright of that book.
