What to do in Niagara Falls? | | Hi, We are going to Niagara Falls this weekend. This is my first time there. Since my brother and his wife has been there 5 times already they told me to think about POI on my own otherwise we will come, take a look and get out of there. So I have the question: what are interesting places there to visit? Boats, walk path or whatever. The only thing is that I can't enter Canada and I can't leave the USA because I have visa that doesn't allow reentrance. Thanks in advance.

The wine region and the Shaw Festival are just two more reasons to visit. But since you're going there this weekend, 'm not sure if there's a festival going on. Wine & Shaw festival is every January. But there's a casino you might want to try your luck.=)

I grew up on the Canadian side of the river but do know some of the attractions on the American side. There are trails you can go on down in the gorge. There is also a great deal of parkland all along the river. There is an observation deck that sticks out into the gorge from the American side. It has an elevator in it that will take you to the bottom where there are trails. I believe it is called "Cave of the Winds". On the north end of the Niagara Falls is something called Artpark. There is an outdoor theater and activities going on there for most of the tourist season. If history is your thing, follow the river toward Lake Ontario. There is an old military fort there called Fort Niagara. It was originally built by the French. It changed hands several times during the War of 1812 when the US and Canada were not on very friendly terms. That is just scratching the surface. There is so much to do there that if you only have the weekend you might forget to see the falls themselves.
