How often do you listen to classic rock from your teen years? | | Do you ever listen to the music that you listened to as a teen? Do you find that the music is just as enjoyable now as it was then?
Earlier this morning I was trying to get some posting done on My Lot and turned on my Internet radio player for company, since noone else is up in the house. It's kind of lonely, just me and the cats. They don't seem to notice, but I do.
And, after I'd exhausted my current music play list and didn't find anything more interesting, I switched to classic rock from the 1980's, stuff that I used to listen to as a teen. Mostly, I was into rock like Cinderella, Scorpions, Def Leppard, etc. Some of these bands aren't still around, but their music lasts forever.
Funny thing, some of the music didn't sound as good as I remembered it. But, some of it was more relevant than ever. I guess everyone goes through stages where certain music means more to them than at other times of their lives.

I was a pop girl my entire teen life. So, those are the hits that I listen to now, at least once a week. I've even got my girls liking some of the "old stuff," which is cool. My parents got me to listen to the music of the fifties, so I'm just broadening my childrens' horizons in the same way.

There were a few pop bands I listened to as a teen, like Nsync, 98 Degrees, and Backstreet Boys when I was 13 or 14 maybe. But that's about it for mainstream, until I was out of high school. Then I started listening to some other stuff, just because I had to at work and I got used to it. Then it was people like Avril Lavigne, John Mayer, Three Doors Down, etc.
I do still listen to a lot of the same music that I listened to as a teen, though. I still have all my old CD's, and listen to them every once a while. I just don't listen to music at all much anymore (unless you count The Doodlebops or the Wiggles! lol)
I went through a phase when I listened to pretty much nothing but 80's music a few years ago. I was too little to listen to most if it when it was new (I was born in '82), but some of it is really good.

beautyqueen26 (9134) | 3 years ago | Me and you are definitely from different generations. I was born in the early '70's, so I hit my teens in the mid 80's. I didn't have any of the cool pop music to listen to when I was a teen, just Debbie Gibson (Yuck!) and a few others. So, options were limited. But, I did love INXS and some of the stuff they did during the 80's; Fine Young Cannibals; REM; and a few others.
I listened to Nsync/Backstreet Boys and those boy bands when I was in my mid-twenties and felt like such a revolutionary cause I was straying away from my rock past. Guess it was my attempt to be more mainstream. I am definitely going to add those guys to my favorites play list.
I'm lucky that my baby girl doesn't make me listen to the Wiggles. I tried to get her into Barney once and she hated it. Not sure why. She likes the Grinch that stole Christmas. The child is progressive, that's for sure. She's way ahead of anything I was doing at her age. I'm lucky though. Doctors said she'd have severe learning difficulties. They were wrong! She's smarter than me sometimes and that's saying a lot, cause I'm not a big dummy. Thanks for dropping by and talking about your fave music with me in this early AM. Chat soon.

| | 6. craftcatcher (2277) | 3 years ago | If I want to listen to music from my teen years, I'd have to turn to the oldies station! LOL. I do listen to a lot of 70's and 80's music. Sometimes when we're out on a long drive we'll turn it to the oldies station and listen to that for awhile. It's weird how I hear songs on that station that I haven't heard in 40 yrs and still remember all the words!

I also have all my old records and tapes.

| | | 9. herbicious (26) | 3 years ago | Considering how I am a teen, I do listen to a variety of music (including rock). But I think I know what you mean by classic rock.
I do listen to some older music, like stuff by Bon Jovi and Aerosmith. Alas, correct me if I'm wrong, but I will not consider that type of music classic rock (well some Aerosmith could be).
If you're looking for AC/DC, I'm surely the wrong guy to ask. But I know a lot of friends and teachers who still listen to AC/DC and consider Bon Jovi a joke. I listen to the Eagles and got their greatest hits collection quite recently. It's actually pretty decent.
