Do you buy your pet medications online or at the vet?  email this discussion to a friend?

I like to get my frontline plus online but I often get my heartguard from the vet because otherwise its not guaranteed. Buying online is usually cheap for both, but I don't want to take the risk with the heartguard.

How about you? Where do you buy from? Have you had better luck with one website over another

I have purchased from 1800PetMeds and drugstore.com before, but those are the only places. I ordered the Frontline Plus as well. I am a huge online shopper, and I have done all of my research as far as pricing goes. Believe it or not, my vet actually sells the flea and tick stuff for a couple bucks less than they sell it online (with the exception of the stuff that comes from overseas, and I won't buy that anyway) and they usually include a freebie with my purchase (like an extra vial of the medicine).

We recently had to put one of our dogs on a prescription diet, and it's quite expensive. I bought the initial batch of food from the vet, and I figured I would continue to purchase the food online instead. I must have spent the entire day searching for the food online, and NO ONE had it any cheaper than the price I paid at the vet. No one offered free shipping, either.

Our vet is right around the corner from where we live, so even with gas, it's still cheaper buying from the vet than it is buying online. Like I said, I do most of my shopping online (with the exception of groceries), so my saying "I would rather not buy online" is completely atypical for me.

I buy frontline for both my cats and dogs and the dogs heartworm prevention from http://www.countrysidepet.com because it's the cheapest that I've found so far. I hope the heartworm prevention works ok but with money being so darned tight I have to cut back some how and I hope I don't pay for it later on.

I normally buy my flea medication, for my cats, from my vet. One, because the price is decent and two, they are right down the street so they are very convenient when it comes time to give them their flea medication. I have considered buying it online because if I buy it in bulk (6 mo. supply) I get a decent discount. However, if I ordered it monthly, it would be just about the same price as buying it from the vet. In your case, if you are more comfortable buying it from the vet, then I would do that. No one can put a price on your baby's health.

Hello ma_belle, I always buy my pet medications at the vet and not on-line. I haven't tried buying it on-line but I do surf on-line to get information about my pet health care and medications. :-)

I've always bought mine right from the vet although the only thing I've ever had to buy is Advantage for the dog and now for the cat.
