What do you do with all your old Tupperware? |
| |
| As much as I love Tupperware, it does wear out eventually. Or, maybe I just get bored and stop using it. And, when that happens, I simply refuse to throw it away. It's hard to throw away a $15 container, don't you think? So, most times I recycle my Tupperware for other purposes. For instance, right now, two of my Tupperware containers are holding keys and a small stash of pocket change and one dollar bills. I wish I could find something more noble for such a useful and expensive storage unit, but I have not done so yet. Do you have any clever or useful ways to recycle your expensive Tupperware containers so that you get even more use out of them? Do you ever simply throw away your Tupperware containers? | | | | | |

| | I don't know if you sew, but I have some old Tupperware containers that I store old buttons in. When a shirt or blouse gets old and unwearable, I will cut off the buttons to recycle them. I have one for buttons and one for zippers. My son in law has popped a zipper from time to time in his work pants, so when that happens I don't have to throw away his pants, but take that old zipper out and replace it with a recycled zipper and his pants are again wearable. I have a Tupperware plastic drinking glass that I keep my pens and pencils in. I have one on my dresser for my eye shadow brushes and eye liner pencils. I have a container that holds my letter envelopes, and one for my stapler and glue stick and staple removers and things right here on my desk. There is no need to go out and buy containers to hold these things when there are perfectly good Tupperware to do the trick. Hope that helps. | | | | | | |

| | Tupperware has a lifetime warrenty. Don't throw it away. People search yard slaes for the stuff! I know I do. If it is cracked or peeling, find a Tupperware consultant and have them send it back to the company for a new piece. (it might not match if all you send is the lid or the bowl due to just one being cracked.) If the damage is due to blatent misuse (microwaving pieces that are not made for the microwave), then they will not replace it. I can't get enough Tupperware. I keep my larger pieces in the basement in a cabinet since I only use them during the holidays or a large party. Any extras that I pick up at yard sales get bleached and given to my girls to use, as they love Tupperware as much as I do. And yes, I will even buy just Tupperware lids if that is all the person has. I always have a spare lid when needed if I have to send a lid off! | | | | | | |

| | I actually used my for painting. We were painting a room in the hospital and needed bowls to pour the paint into. There were a few of us volunteering and it made it a whole lot easier. | | | | | | |

| | NEVER!We decorate ours, with paper or colors and use them for many things....the bigger containers have pictures of cats on them and is used to store the cat food....my daughter has one for her colors, one for her hair accessories and one for her make up......she decorated them all herself and have pictures and drawings of what's in them om them....she likes them because they come with covers so if she drops them, nothing spills out....they are great storage containers when you stop using them for their known purposes.......and decorate them accordingly..... | | | | | | |

| | I don't like to throw it away, either. But when I'm ready to get rid of my storage containers, it's usually because we're running out of room to keep them all...and putting them to use somewhere else doesn't actually create more room, it just transfers the clutter from one place to another. So, what I do is bag them up and advertise them on freecycle, then give them to someone who can use them. | | | | | | |

| | I keep my tupperware containers till they're of no use anymore because like you said, they're very expensive. After years and years of using the stuff and it wears out, I feel as if I've gotten my money's worth because it lasted so long. My mother has a cake carrier and is going to sell it in our yard sale for it's so old and she hasn't used it in years. I don't want it because I'm not a pastry type of person except for a few few things. | | | | | | |

| | I don't buy real tupperware. I just buy the cheap stuff, because my husband is pretty good at leaving stuff somewhere else. I can't afford to replace everything he misplaces, unless I just buy the cheap stuff. We usually use the stuff until my husband loses it or we don't feel like it's fit for holding food anymore. My husband tends to microwave things too long sometimes, and they start to look bad, even if they are microwave safe. Then we use them to store other things, if we need them. Otherwise we get rid of them. Elliott's crayons are in an old sandwich container, but most of his other things are actually in old baby wipes containers instead of containers that we bought to hold food. | | | | | | |

| | Last really nice food storage container that I bought was lost by my spouse as well. He was going into a new job for some training and left it at the facility and never went back for it. I think it was a different location than the job site, so he would have no reason to go back. He didn't think it was a big deal. I did! Funny how guys are about money. They don't mind wasting it,but don't want us to do the same. | | | |

I am not really surre but I do know that I need to get some tupperware for my kitchen to store snack foods for my kids, it will look nicer than just keeping them in the boxes they are in now that is for sure! | | | | | | |
