How many pots and pans do you use to prepare dinner? | | Most days I like to cook simple one pot dishes, like tacos and sloppy joes. With those recipes, you can brown the beef and then drain it, before adding the remaining ingredients to the same pan. Just works out better that way with my limited schedule.
But, sometimes I'll make things complicated for myself and try cooking a specialty recipe. And, then I will end up with four or five pots and pans and assorted bowls to wash at the end of the night. It turns into a real mess. So, I try to keep things simple and confine my cooking to just one pot.
Do you prefer to prepare elaborate dinners that use multiple pots and pans? Or, do you go for one-pot dinners that require less clean up?

I'll cook the meat on the grill, and heat the vegetables in the microwave. If I'm doing something really big, I might use five or six pots and pans. I always try to wash up as I go along, though, so that I only have one or two to wash at the end of the day.

| | 22. KrisNY (7347) | 3 years ago | It seems we always use a couple pots and pans when cooking dinner- even for tacos or pasta- One to boil the noodles in- One to brown the meat in- One to cook the meat and sauce in. Tacos same thing- 1 to brown the meat in- and a cookie sheet to bake the shells- plus numerous bowls to put lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, onions, and whatever else you put on tacos. No matter how easy I try to make a meal- I always use a variety of dishes to cook it. I always start washing the pots and pans while the rest of dinner is cooking- I always start with a sink full of hot soapy water- and clean as I go- Not so much of a mess after

I do much prefer single pan cooking. when we were just moved here and had yet a place to live I did all my cooking in an electric skillet at the hotel. I made pizza in it and course meals - for instance for spaghetti I would boil the noodles and then keep them in the strainer when they were done while I sauteed the onions and peppers and garlic - and added the tomatoes and spices for the sauce..... I would let the sauce simmer a bit and then add the noodles in to heat back up.

My wife had the bad habit of using so many vessels in the kitchen, here dishwashing is done by a maidservant, but if she fails to turn up, it has to be done by my wife only. She has purchsed teflon coated pans for cooking these days, they are easy to clean and consume less of our LPG gas.
