Naruto episode 135... Where you annoyed certain characters weren't dead? email this discussion to a friend?

Okay, I like Chouji, I've always lived Chouji. I wasn't fond of Neji my first time through the early episodes of the series, but the second time through I really started to understand him better.

However, I was really annoyed to discover that these characters were somehow NOT dead even though they obviously seemed to die in the episodes preceding this one. It's not that I wanted them to die, but it just seemed like a cop out to save them! Especially after they did the whole melodramatic butterfly thing with Chouji, and had what seemed like it could be Neji's ghost talk to Naruto. (I suppose perhaps that's supposed to be a memory of something Neji said, but I swear at the time I thought it was his ghost.)

So, any opinions? Were you annoyed or relieved to discover these two survived? Did you perhaps never really believe they were dead in the first place?

i was happy too find out that they were not dead, and really think about, you would go through the same Melodramatic thing if you though you was about to die, right? And then on top of that what Episode are you on?because what you speak of is very old, and if you are where I am, in episodes then you would be Very happy that they lived, so you can see how much they advanced in their skills.=)

I actually just watched 220 last night, which is the end of the original series. I haven't watched Shippuuden yet, but I'll be starting that soon.

It's not that I don't like the characters, or that I'm not happy at how they've advanced in their skills and stuff. It is really exciting for me, especially with Chouji, how cool he has gotten. (I've really liked him from the beginning!)

However, it just disapponts me when writers do things like that... have the situation where it looks like the character was dead and then you find out they aren't. It's just such an overdone plot device, and it reminds me of soaps or something.=P

Thanks for responding! I was really starting to think this discussion was going to get no responses, so I'm happy you came! I see your point about being melodramatic if you think you're going to die too, it's just something that's a pet peeve of mine with any show.=P

I'm relieved that chouji and neji didn't die. I like those two as well as any other ninja in naruto. I thought at first that chouji would really die because of the pill he ate. And I was glad when my friend told me he didn't die.

Hmmm, I like them but I just felt it was kind of childish plot-wise to have everyone on the brink of death and then them all come out okay somehow.:P
