what is the difference between warranty and gaurantee?

A warranty is a certificate that accompanies a purchase agreement. It states that there are certain parts and/or services that are available for the item you now own. For instance, I carry a service warranty on my dryer. The motor went out and it was replaced under the warranty. I paid for the service call, but the parts and labor to install the new motor are covered in my warranty.

A gaurantee is a statement from a company about a product. This statement says this product will either do something or benefit you when you follow all the steps. For instance, come companies carry a gaurantee that you will lose weight if you follow their diet plan. If it does not work for you, after you have followed all the steps, then the company usually refunds your monies. They are gauranteeing their product or services.
