Anbody out there besides me consider hurricane Katrina a blessing?

i DO NOT consider hurricane katrina a blessing! i am not mad at you for feeling that way.. and i can understand why u might say that. but because of hurricane katrina.. things are much worse now if you ask me. yes new orleans is full of corruption...but im sure alot of places are. i would in fact LOVE to not live here.. but i do. its horrible that you have been attacked and stabbed.

to me there is much more crime.. even more careless driving before.. people have now become extremely rude and just plain mad at the world. its horrible.

Could it of been that you was with the wrong crowd that got you stabbed and how can you say it was a blessing, So many people lost their homes and still have no place to go. The homes most lost is all they had and now they aren't getting any insurance money to rebuild because insurance refused to pay, after they made years of payments, so they can't afford to rebuild. Most of these were elderly and poor people. If you run with thugs you get what you deserve, the corruption is every where we are in Dayton ohio now from Lower Plaquemines Parish Louisiana and every morning the news shows the murders here. They let too many foreigner in after katrina and too many gangs that have taken over and the mayor is ajoke. You should never say that such a diaster was a blessing to anyone, you never know how saying something can come back and hit you right where you live.

once again I think your wrong, you in your own words state that "you enjoyed the game at first" what game? and that you was attacked more times than you can count, how does one get to be attacked more times than they can count if they not in the wrong place or doing the wrong thing, and if you are out in the street late at night and waking alone, then you are asking for it.If a person is attacked over and over again they don't go back to the same place for it to happen again. You yourself said when you began to chang your life and distance your self from the slife style in New Orleans, that tells us you was out in the streets and that is why you kept getting attacked. I don't give a damn if someone attacked me 40 times I would figure out what i was doing wrong and stop doing it, any one that wishes something like Katrina on anyone or anyplace is a moron and you one. You live the life style and you run the streets you get what gives. Don't come on here and tell me or anyone else you wasn't a thug or in the wrong place your own words state different. Stay where you are New Orleans if better off with out you. Don't like it, I don't care, don't blame a city or it's people for the lifestyle you led.

Really, no matter where you live, you can get attacked. There is crime everywhere. I am from a small city with a population of about 5000, and just last week, at an assisted living facilty, an elderly woman got attacked, choked, and her voicebox crushed. All for $200. It happens everywhere, no matter if you are in New Orleans or small town USA.

I am in Mobile, and have been to New Orleans a couple of times. Since I've been back home here, I have been done there twice.I am not crazy for that place no lie. My ex and his family lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where my kids were until then, and Katrina affected them pretty bad. I believe up to now, most folks come that lived like in Pass Christian and past Gulfport would have to come to Gulfport or Biloxi to handle business. Where I was, Katrina flooded us badly, plus we had some losses as well, so folks was able to get FEMA, Red Cross, extra food stamps the works. But for the gamblers, Katrina was a little of both. As some of you know, Biloxi has some serious gambling here and there were boats, so folks would say, I'm gone to the boat, and for a while, because of the storm, it devastated those casinos. Most of them are back up and running, but I had a coworker who would go down there and she had a serious gambling problem. She owed them joints. When Katrina happened, she was able to get out from under that problem. When my ex and I divorced, the children were mostly with him, because of Katrina, he couldn't keep them because they didn't have nothing for a while, schools, shopping, banking, bare necessities etc. So, after they were able to get in touch with me, the girls came to me for school. They stayed a while, went back around Christmas, then requested to come to me when school ended in 2006. They have been with me ever since. I have another coworker who had a house in the town above me and lost it completely. She told me she barely made it out of there because she had to wade out. She had move in with family. I don't even think FEMA helped her because they kept telling her to deal with her insurance company first. She ended up taking a loss. We still talk about that house of hers but she takes it with a twist. At first she said she wouldn't get another house. Now, I believe she might. So, in essence, for me, it was a blessing. But for others, it was a hardship.
