Is it really a good idea to shred your mail before throwing it in the trash? Do you shred your mail everytime?

I only shred mail that has certian info about me like a credit card number or socal sercurity number.

Paper Shredder - I don't feel we need to use a paper shredder on all our mail we toss
I don't shred my mail everytime. I think this all got started for away for compannies to sell their shredders. Yes there are some idiots out there that will try to gain information from your mail that you have tossed in the trash but it is rare. If it is mail that I don't want anyone to get a hold of yes I do tear up in to tiny pieces. But I don't tear up every piece or shread.
