How old were you when you got your first pet?

I never remember living without an angelic pet. But supposedly, I was born in February, and my first pet, a beautiful golden retriever, wasn't born until June. We visited her out of state and adopted her right away from family friends. Since then I have never lived without a darling with me. I can't even imagine living without a pet, who is really a family member to me.

Hi Loen!I absolutely love golden retrievers!I too cannot live without a pet and found it very hard one time when i did.It felt like there was something missing in my life besides family and such.A pet just fills in that void and brings more love and friendship.:)

I grew up with dogs too,but one time there was a gap like you around 5 years and it felt weird,like i was missing something in my life.Thats when we got toutou.This is so nice of you gabs!I feel sos sorry for those animals that go unloved.We searched for a dog before toutou,but it was only big dogs and we were looking for a small one.We never found any small dogs after going to nearby shelters around our town.(Nearby by towns/citys).We went to a petshop out of town and saw her in a cage with those big eyes looking at me.My boyfriend didnt want to,but he said do you like her?Yes!!!My daughter said papa i want puppy and looked at him with those other big brown eyes and who could refuse!Yippeeee!LOL:)

I was 8 when my sister first got a dog. It was her dog, but the first pet we were ever allowed to have. My own personal first pet was when I was 11. It was a dog and I was so excited. It was a Christmas present. My parent's wrote the note 'one trip to the local pound' and put it in a fancy envelope. When I opened it I was as high as a kite!

Oh that must of been an exciting christmas for you!I dreamed of this when i was little.To get a box on christmas morning and out popped a puppy when i opened it.It never happened like that though!LOL.We had four dogs.A lassie(my piggy back rider friend.lol),a bulldog who liked to drool on me and nibble my butt,a chiuahua who never liked anyone except my grandfather and a black lab who went every where i went.The lassie and the lab would fight over who would play with me!lol.I loved it!:)

I was five years old when I got my first kitty, Babette--it was actually my mom's idea to get a cat and she went to the Greenwich Humane Society shelter and picked the cat out. I've had kitties ever since :)

Hi pyewacket!They are soo cute though!My daughter loves our cats and said she wants 10 when she grows up!!lol.She has to kiss them and rubb them all the time and become in love more each time she pets them.She loves them so much.
