My room mate cares SO much about me that she was very kind in bringing me home a HORRIBLE cold from work. lol. Doctors can cure lots of things in this life but one thing they cannot cure is the common cold! So my question is how do I make it more tolerable? I can't hardly breathe and my chest feels like it has a ton of bricks sitting on it! Please help me!

Here go some and many of these I've done myself for colds, coughs and even allergies.

Get D form of medication from the pharmacy if you can. Those are the best without a prescription.
Vicks Vapor Rub is also pretty good for your situation.
Take in a good deal of vitamins especially B, C, D, and E.
Garlic, Oranges, Lemons and Teas introduce nutrition, anti-toxic agents and (in the case of tea) heat to the system.
Potassium drinks introduce more needed potassium for cellular function, and if you get the high end drinks is rather bitter and vaporous. This can help clear up the breathing passages on the way down.
Take a shower when you feel stuffed up, the steam should free up your nostrils and the compacted air from sniffling so much.
Be sure to take an aspirin to help with the pain in the chest, and the possible headache and body pains from coughing so much.
Colds and bacteria have trouble surviving in an elevated temperature, that is why your body will go into fevers. Just watch how high it gets though and be prepared to take ice water/cold shower if you approach the 106 Fahrenheit mark.
Do not strain yourself needlessly. If you really feel down, do not go to work and rest up. I mean really rest! Get more sleep since the body processes on wellness and anti-toxic matters more in that state.

A similar thing has been mentioned already, but I would get a cheap humidifier. You wouldn't have to depend on a steam shower or anything. Even the cheap ones work well. The second thing would be to put Vicks Vapor rub underneath your nose and above your lip. You do have to be careful not to lick your lips, but it opens you up faster than putting it only on your chest. Which is another good idea.

I hate being congested. I get it often because my bf runs the ac 24/7 and I hate air. I don't believe in taking a lot of medications because it only prolongs being sick so I try natural ways. You can take a hot shower and let the steam do it's work. You can hold your head over a bowl of steaming water and add some drops of eucalyptus oil in it. Use a towel and hold it over your head as you stand over the bowl to help trap the steam. I haven't tried it but you can rub some Vics Vapo Rub on your chest. That might help.
When my head is congested I have used massage techniques and it helps. What you do is put your thumbs on your temples and sweep your hands across your forehead a few times. You can also take your thumbs and apply pressure just under your eyebrows where your nose meets the brow. There are pressure points on your face that if you apply pressure will help with head congestion.
