here in the philippines, it is not uncommon for people in the boondocks to lock up their mentally sick family or tie them up to the tree. sometimes, these people are left outside like dogs, chained to a chair or the bed post and they live with their excrement. these are the uneducated lot and they only do what they think is best.

For sure I will take responsibility to seek any relevant authoritative body for furtherance. Because mental sickness is under rehab enactment and code of ethics. And need to manage them under expertise supervision. Handling alone consider unethical and wrong mannered.

yes, it is always for the better that we seek help. mental illness is something which is not easy to deal with. only a professtional can determine the primary cause of a mental illness. actually, at the onset, most cases require only the administration of some medicines and the provision of the right food at the right time. i have known a lot of people who have been taking care of their sick member who at one sight would only appear to have something abnormal about the way they talk and act. just in case the medicines are way out of reach for the family, the family can always seek the help of many philantropist around. people with good kind hearts who are willing to help are just around the bend. all that we have to do is to let them know about our predicament.

i think the best way to deal with this is to bring the patient to the hospital and have him treated. sometimes though, for lack of understanding and proper education, people lock the mentally challenged people, treating them to the status of mere animals. i don't know exactly the morality of them, but i think that it is still best that they be brought to the hospital for proper care and perhaps, they might respond to treatment and come back to their normal selves again.

of course, if one loves the person enough, definitely one will be seeking professional help. sickness of the mind is something which we cannot simply ignore and toy with the idea that the illness shall be gone in due time as time passes by. on the contrary, it gets worse if not treated properly. the earlier professional help is sought, the better it shall be for the patient since his recovery will surely be faster and easier while the illness has not gone too far yet. i am sure that the person who truly loves is willing to sacrifice so much for the one he loves. if it is caring for the sick and providing the financial measure to see one get cured and survive well in this life, it is all too little a sacrifice. nothing is insurmountable for the one who loves.

yes although we know that this mental illness is not reversable , we still have to love the person not only he has illness but he is still or family member, he dont like to have this illness, no ones like it too. it only happen that he gets this. how about if we are in his shoes or situation, do we like it?

I live in the US and shunning the mental handicapped is not something that occurs anymore. In fact my sister is bipolar, my dad has PTSD, and I have panic disorder, and we all lead productive lives. It is shameful that some people have to be "locked up". Really the right medicines and therapy can alleviate the negative aspects of the mental illnesses.

If ever, I would definitely do my best to seek help and give proper treatment to that family member. I will never locked them or even chained them because that would make thier situation worse.
It is indeed sad that there are lot's of people specially in the province areas who that kind of stuff. I personally knew one family..:(

Its the time they need the care and affection of all family members.I will not neglect them and take them to the concerned doctor for treatment and help them to recover as soon as possible to lead a normal life. Those patients need our immense care to get cured at the earliest and its not fair to chain them which will hurt them physically and affect mentally also.

Most time, its my work..with ontime deliveries and work loads. I try to divert mind on music and i feel better. We need to manage depression, as it is part of life in busy world.
But if we concentrate, we can manage it. I does it through my yoga, listening music and going out on vacation.
