You say "I am truly sorry." because you are, and there is nothing else that you can say that will mean anything to them. Then you let them talk about their loved one that died, you help them remember the good times and celebrate. Then, if someone is in a position to make laws restricting how much sixteen year olds can drive, and under what conditions, you will help them pass laws to keep young, underexperienced drivers alive while they learn to be good drivers.

I am so sorry for your loss. Such a tradgedy for someone so young. No words are going to be able to console you. I am praying for you and yours.

I'm very sorry for your lost, my friend's cousin died in a motocycle accident a few years ago, he was young I don't remember how old he was. Please stay strong and you will be in my prayers, it sad that kids die at a young are from a car crash or any other tragedy.

That is so sad, I'm sorry for your family, it's the worst kind of news. I feel sickened whenever I hear about this kind of thing. I know so many people around here that have lost one of their children through a driving accident. One of my friends lost 2 sons about 2 years apart. One of my son's best friends died instantly after his car ran off the road into a tree, and only 2 weeks before his class graduated from high school. Just yesterday my other son called up to say that he saw a poster up at the carryout with a notice that one of his friends had died in an accident with a four wheeler. It is so horrible, and I have to wonder why it happens so often, at least around here. Maybe the kids are driving too young, or maybe it's because they're too distracted. I've heard about some places that have restrictions on young drivers so they'll get more experience and skill before they're allowed to have a regular license. I don't know how well those kind of programs work, but something definitely needs to be done.

..that's always so terrible! And that's a great understatement.. There is nothing to say.. Just to show love and caring and support and to show that we feel great loss also is all we can do at such times.. and pray for the family and friends..

I am really sorry to hear this, you could say that. Or you could ask if they need any help with anything. I would just show up and sit around waiting to see where I was needed. Sometimes, there is nothing you can say.

Oh I know what your talking about with that phone call. My neighbor across the street lost her sister at 17 the same way. Honestly, it's hard finding the right thing to say. If you live close to your cousin, you can go there and basically tend to things that she/ he will not want to do like for example greeting people as they come by, put meals that some people might bring in the fridge or oven, get the mail, etc. If not, you can call and just let her/him talk to you. Mainly just listen to them speak about there son.

After my brother died, people came out of the wood work bringing food. Up until the funeral, the house was never empty. The funeral was even worse, it was so packed, that some people were standing.

I hope what I said helps. Do give your cousin plenty of hugs he/she will need them. My heart goes out to you, your cousin and your family.

i am soo very sorr for your loss. i kno too well how you feel. my husband's cousin was killed in a car accident in june and she was 16 herself. again she was on a dirt road and some how lost controll the two girls that were with her survived but it is still unclear what happened there are so many stories noone knows the truth.. all you can do is be strong for the family and listen to them when they need t vent on this horrible ordeal. it is still very hard and we are still coping. so i truly understand what you are going throw... my prayers are with you and your family tonight...
