Research shows that there is a correlation between lack of sleep and heart disease. Do you sleep long enough? or do you always lack sleep?

I have seen people sleeping for 10 to 12 hours (people above 20 years). It is understandable that children below 10 years do sleep for 10 to 12 hours a day, but beyond 15 years one requires only 8 hours for normal health. It is better to maintain that 8 hours sleep per day. The more one embraces the bed, the more the health problem one invites.

I did not say I sleep for 12 hours. As the age progresses, one get less and less sleep and I sleep for 6 hours a day and another 45 minutes in the afternoon.

10-12 hours? wow! how do you do that? my body clock tells me to sleep for 6-8 hours. I can't sleep straight 10-12 hours. It's too long for me.

Hi errielle, I work with a cardiologist abd can tell you definitely that there is a correlation between sleeping and heart disease. When we sleep we recharged out inner batteries. More critically, we get rid of the free radicals, which are harmful for our bodies, through sleepin well. So, it's very important to maintain aur biological clock and sleep at more or less specific time and for specific hours. Sleep well and the duration depends on the health of the individual. Good luck!

Hi! I just read it in Yahoo news the time I posted it.I thought it's alarming especially for those whose work make them sleep less or stay awake in the evening and supposedly sleep in the morning. Thanks for the information.

I sleep late sometimes and sometimes I sleep like four or only five hours a day. indeed sleep is a necessary activity for us. It refreshes us to do things the following day. sleep is necessary for our body. how many hours do you sleep too? it is always recommended to sleep at least eight hours a day but with lots of things to do this is not always met. I sleep like eleven or twelve midnight then I wake up ususally by seven in the morning. if I sleep at eleven then I could have eight hours of sleep. but I spend much time in the computer so I sleep like one or two in the morning then wake up around seven still.

I usually have 6-7 hours a day. I have to be up early around 5:30am to 6:00am because of work. But I take a nap during noontime enough to keep me energized the whole afternoon.

Really? Thanks for the info.. me, I don't sleep long enough. My sleep hours would only take about 4 or 5 as the maximum. So do you think it's ok for my age? I am turning 25:-)

The desired number of sleep is really 8 hours or so. This will allow our body to rest and be recharged for the next day. 4 to 5 is quite short. If i have that kind of sleeping hours, i usually feel tired so easily. try to make it 6... or 7... =)

I usually make it 6-7hrs a day of sleep. Anything less would make me sober and depressed. But on weekends when there's no work the next day. i sleep at 3am ...

That's enough to have 6-7. The ideal is 8 hours a day. If I sleep for 5 hours, I become unproductive in my work. I tend to sneak for sleep at work. that's bad.

Six hours of sleep is quite fine. I think that will give our body enough rest. We sleep because we want to put our body to rest and get enough energy for the next day. if we don't sleep and get overworked or get too tired, then we don't have enough energy for ourselves. Thanks for the reply@

hello there. I sleep about 6-8 hours a day. However, I think that is not enough. I think I need about 8-10 hours a day to feel energetic. 6 or less hours a sleep a day makes me feel lethargic. I can sleep as long as 12 hours and I love sleeping. =D http://lamejokes.blog.dada.net

If I sleep 5 hours or less, or 9 to 10 hours, I feel tired or feel overslept. And if it's the latter, I usually feel my body is too relaxed to work so I also have to condition it to be able to do the things I have to do during the day =)

Its random. The average is 6 hours. Other times its been as long as 8 to 11 hours. Then there are times I sleep only 4, 3 or 2 hours, or not at all.

I think that's still enough time to put our body to a recharge-mode. :) i think it would be bad if we sleep less than 5 hours a day.

oopps.. i hope not too long. The researcb also observes that there is higher mortality rate for those who have longer than 9 hours of sleep. :)
