If you were to treat your family or friends, would you opt for a buffet or a laureat? Why?

1. sara03 (1553) | 11 months ago | I prefer calling them to my house and give them good food and fine dishes of their choice. My wife cooks well and fond of cooking for others. I feel it develops lot of intimacy than standing in the que in restaurents. Occasionally we go there and have fun with friends

2. cefaz_21 (2065) | 11 months ago | I would love to treat them on a buffet or eat all you can restos but mom is not a big eater so maybe it's not worth it. Whatever or wherever the place is though..It would be great to have them around hanging out with me..I don't see them much today and more so spending time with them.:)
| |
| |
acmepride (652) | 11 months ago | Perhaps buffet would be the best way to go, provided, of course, that your mom isn't around. lol... You must really be longing for them already, considering that, as you've acknowledged, you "don't see them much today and more so spending time with them."Given that, I feel that it would really be best to eat out, be it a buffet, laureat, or whatnot, once you get together again. Happy myLotting and cheers to great food!

3. liperoterachel (10219) | 11 months ago | I don't ike biffets they always put MSG in it and it hurts my stomach alot. So I prefer just plain dinning. Not to mention Buffet food is usually not so good for you.
| |
| |
acmepride (652) | 11 months ago | Thanks for that very useful health warning in regard buffet, Rachel. However, apart from MSG, precisely why do you say that "Buffet food is usually not so good for you?" Thanks a lot for the clarification!;)
| |
liperoterachel (10219) | 11 months ago | It seems like the things offered at buffets are high fat items. Maybe its just the ones I have been to but I always see a shine of oil on the meat.
| |
acmepride (652) | 11 months ago | Yeah, the fat and oil are perhaps not really good for our health and, as such, we should truly be wary of such, if ever we intend to have a buffet. Thanks so much for the clarification, Rachel!;)

Kowgirl (1755) | 8 months ago | I like eating at Golden Corral, It's a buffet. They do NOT use MSG nor any seasoning in the food. You have to put it in yourself. No salt, No oil, and they have lots of items for diabetics. Their steak is cooked to order on a grill. They have baked chicken, ham, and baked fish. The salad bar has lots of different salad mix and they have no sugar apple pie, chocolate pudding and a few other good desserts. It' a great place for people with diabetes to eat.

artemis432 (1730) | 8 months ago | Also, some buffets leave their food out too long, and they spray chemicals on the salads to keep them looking fresh.
| |
acmepride (652) | 8 months ago | Golden Corral really seems to offer a lot of tempting dishes, which I would definitely like to have a taste of. If I may ask, though, exactly where is it located? Thanks a lot and Happy myLotting!;)
| |
acmepride (652) | 8 months ago | artemis432, could you please cite some specific buffets you know of that "leave their food out too long" and "spray chemicals on the salads" so that we could avoid such? Thanks a lot in advance for answering my query and Happy myLotting!;)

4. michecu (498) | 11 months ago | I think I prefer to treat my family and friends in a buffet because I do not really know their preferences in food and its also tedious to prepare food just to cater to their taste buds. I think that buffet is more economical and my guests can go back to the buffet table whenever they want. However, for formal occasions, I'd prefer laureate, so the guests wont have to stand and form lines in a buffet table.:)
| |
| |
acmepride (652) | 11 months ago | What an informatively excellent post, michecu. Don't you think, though, that even if it's a formal occasion, it would still be better for your guests to walk to the buffet table every once in a while, if only to help in the digestion of the food they've eaten?;)

5. subha12 (10889) | 11 months ago | I generally prefer buffet. In buffet you can eat the things you like most from the spread. When there is no option i prefer lauret.

6. Madona1 (1222) | 11 months ago | If I was going to give a treat to my friends or family, I would prepare a delicious and selective food and make sure they eat well regardless buffet, cocktail or laureate and so on. Normally I prefer 4 courses meal and serve them myself so that I know what they like individually and make them feel my hospitality. I don’t mind to serve buffet either, but there is not enough room to move around in our dinning and living room. LOL
| |
| |
acmepride (652) | 11 months ago | Out of curiosity, when you say that, "Normally I prefer 4 courses meal," you're exactly referring to what kinds of courses? You sure must be very warmly hospitable and happily accommodating to your guests, Madona1, especially considering that you even personally want to know what your guests like individually and make them feel your hospitality. Someday, I would surely want to be treated to a personally prepared breakfast/lunch/dinner by an amazing host/hostess like you. Happy myLotting and cheers to great food!;)

7. a_ce_e (1158) | 11 months ago | Both are good, but i think buffet will be better for me, so my friend or my family can choose any food he/she want.
| |
| |
acmepride (652) | 11 months ago | I fully agree that it would seem better to provide more food choices for your friends and family, and buffet would definitely perhaps offer more food than laureat. By saying that, "Both are good," though, precisely in what way are both laureat and buffet good? Thanks a lot for the clarification, a_ce_e!;)

8. cristalkate (226) | 10 months ago | Aloha acmepride.*smile* For me, I prefer for a buffet. I love to minggle others while roaming around for food. I think it is more enjoyable than laureat.:) Buffet kept your visitors more casual and feeling like just at home with some friends and new found friends.*smile*
| |
| |
acmepride (652) | 10 months ago | That's a nice way to view it, cristalkate!;) In terms of cost, though, would you say that buffet is less expensive than laureat? Thanks a lot for your good post! Happy myLotting! (",)
| |
cristalkate (226) | 10 months ago | Oh well, if it in terms of cost, I guess laureat can save more money. It is because in buffet it will be an eat-all-you-can style of dining, while in laureat, you can just have kinds of food that is what exactly for a serve.LOL But of course in laureat you can still eat all kinds of food serve but not that as many as you can.:D

acmepride (652) | 10 months ago | Thanks for your clear explanation of the potential benefits of buffet and laureat, cristalkate! Keep smiling and Happy myLotting!;)
