Now we have a new baby!!!! |
|
Hi friends, I wanted to share my feelings with you all. We ordered a puppy yesterday and he is now only 4 days old. We will be able to get him 2 months later but owners sent his picture and they will send every week. He is a white cute bulldog. Never had a bulldog before and I am a little nervous. What do you say about our new baby? Don't you think he is cute? Does any of you has a bulldog???

1. fredgame (1071) | 3 years ago | it looks like a sea seal in the picture. it's cute any way. i think you start looking for it's feeds so that you can make him fat and huge. i like bulldogs and sometimes we use them as watch dogs and they scare thieves and nocturnal creatures away.

2. LilyoftheThorns (3753) | 3 years ago | CUTE! lol. I love it!
Let me lay your nerves to rest...I work as a Nighttime Pet Care Specialist at a PetsHotel. So I am in direct contact with all the dogs that are staying overnight at our hotel, and I'm there all night. So far we have had 3 different bulldogs, and they were all the sweetest!
One of them liked to suck on my fingers. He would bite them every once in a while, but it wasn't that hard and it just felt like a little pinch. Most of it was just a lot of slober! lol. And when I brought him in the kitchen with me to run around I sat on the floor with him and he jumped all over me, giving me kisses and sitting in my lap!
They are a very sweet breed as far as I'm concerned.

3. MSV1313 (2243) | 3 years ago | Congratulations on your new baby! He looks adorable. The only thing I know about bulldogs is that they sometimes have problems with their eyes due to the pushed in face that they have, they can get eye infections. Also, they sometimes have trouble breathing through their noses, also because of the pushed in face. They have funny teeth too. I would go online and look up Bulldog care in a search engine before your pup comes home so you are well informed about any special needs you new baby might have. The few bulldogs I have met in my life were all very sweet and they are very cute too. As far as I know, they seem to be a very nice breed and are good natured. I have heard that they are also very loyal and protective of their people parents. Don't be nervous my friend, just get yourself informed about the breed a little and you will be fine. I know you have a very kind heart, which is the most important quality a pet owner should have, you will be a great puppy parent! Cheers.

5. houndsgood (597) | 3 years ago | After you commit to the dog is NOT the time to find out what the breed is like.
Unfortunately, I think your breeder is unethical if they allow you to get a dog from them just because you pony up the money, not that you are knowledgeable about the breed and would give the best home. Also, how do they know this puppy's personality at 4 days old? Personalities of puppies within a litter can be very different. Some are going to be more of an alpha when they grow up, some appear to be a little more timid, some appear to be snugglers, and some are very independent.
Also, there is more to it than that - what health records and geneology of these dogs made you decide that you were getting one?
I recommend to anyone who has absolutely no experience with a particular breed type to volunteer at their local shelter or more so with a breed rescue of that breed. The people at the rescue will expose you to the pluses and minuses and what to expect from your dog when they are adults.
ALL puppies are cute. No matter what they are.
But if you want a puppy, there are TONS in shelters and rescues. That 12 week old to 8 month old puppy that was dumped at the shelter when the new family couldn't handle them or didn't train them right, or a lot of times mom dogs are dumped at shelters and lots of times they are recognizable breeds too.
Bulldogs are nice dogs, but they are not the breed I would recommend to someone as a "starter dog" for someone who doesn't know waht they are about.
Did you know that many people who have bulldogs do not recommend you have two males or two females? If you are an experience bulldog person perhaps, and one of the dogs would have to be very submissive. Its common for a bulldog to be good with their own family but in some cases, they don't always mix with bulldogs of their own gender and I am not just talking about American bulldogs but french bulldogs, old english, and sometimes staffies?
Have you ever watched the Dog Whisperer? there was a story about someone with two bulldogs and there was a story of a family with one. That one bulldog pushed the wife around because she acted so timid around him and even bit at her ankles. If you push a bulldog (i am talking mentally not just physically their instinct is to push you right back, unlike maybe a golden retriever). And i don't mean you should ever push a dog, but i mean push/restrain. Now, if you are the boss in your house and you establish the rules to your dog that he/ she is loved but IS NOT THE BOSS it could work. Other breeds are more loose on those things where they automatically think the sun rises and sets on you or you have to do very little to establish the fact that you are the chief. For some dogs whoever has the treat box is their grand pooh-bah. And the dog is not a higher rank than the kids either.
Anyway, if you want to raise a great bulldog you have to be firm with the rules from day one. Not "oh let him/her get away with it because they are cute"
Also you need to know what types of dispositions the parents and grandparents have - that could be helpful.
If the breeder does not know this, refuses to let you meet the mother dog, or hides her, and won't give you the name of who owns grandpa so you can meet him, then they are hiding something.
Many backyard breeders and puppymillers hide behind glossy websites and magazine ads. They send out pictures of puppies in pastoral settings. So be aware of that. And the fact that they are letting you have a puppy without any knowledge or research on the breed makes me just reiterate" buyer beware.
I won't get into - buying a puppy takes a home a way from a shelter dog - but you will find that out in time.

zabawaus (1067) | 3 years ago | Hello houndsgood, Well first of all thank you for your long reply. It looks like you know a lot about these kind of things. Actually my husband was searching for a bulldog for a long time. And he checked all these breeders. As far as my husband told me that these breeders are doing this so professional and they are giving loong details about babies parents and their parents like their all family tree. Actually one is already act in George Clooney's movie. And about the babies personality I know that it all depends how you raise them . And also it is not my first time that i am having a pet. I am sure we will be a good home don't worry about it. I wish we got one or two from shleters too. But my husband insisted on Bulldogs so I couldn't change his mind. But who knows we can get other pets from shelters . And let me correct you when I told that I was nervous I tried to mean that I am going to have a new cute pretty baby thats why I am nervous. I am not a newbie on pets and a member of PETA I am 30 years old and since I know myself I had pets. Most of them cats and 2 times I had dogs so I am realy good at having and taking care of my pets. But again thank you very much for these Bulldog informations. Have a great day!!!!!

8. paul8675 (715) | 3 years ago | I once got an Australian Terrier as a new puppy. Now he was cute. I think the breed matters little. What is important is that you can train the dog to show the personality you want it to show, much in the same way a human is trained from youth. That is an exciting challenge. Best wishes!

zabawaus (1067) | 3 years ago | Hello Paul:),
