Ok, so I got Tundra fixed yesterday. THIS is what she did to my house today!!  | |  So, being the loving, cauing pet owner that I am, I kept the dogs inside today. Tundra can't be outside because they don't want her to run and jump and pull or pop her stitches, and she shouldn't lay on the ground anyway. So, I baby her last night, give her her pain meds this morning, coddle her some more, give her and Jesse love and treats. All should be good, right? WRONG!!The dogs love being outside. They like being out all day, in during the evening, and then out at night. So, I spent about 3 hours cleaning yesterday so that I could leave them in today without worrying about it. Jesse has NEVER destroyed anything, doesn't have accidents, and I don't even worry about closing the doors to the bedrooms with him. Tundra, now that's another story.
I left at 7:30am to get my kids to school, go to class, run a friend to the dentist, later on pick my kids up and take them all to the doc for check ups. I get home around 3pm and walk through the door.....
Tundra has pushed my 60 inch (on wheels) tv 5 feet from the wall, pulled ALL of the electronics off the top by the cords, eaten all of the cords, pulled the stuffing out of the arm of the couch, eaten 15 dvds (4 of which are not mine), eaten the DVD player, broken 4 glasses that were on the counter, broken 5 plates that were INSIDE the sink (I have no clue how), SOMEHOW opened the bathroom door (it has handicapped handles, so quite easy), ate the shower curtain, pulled the rod out of the wall, ate the toilet paper and roll, the water in the tub was running, she emptied 3 bottles of shampoo all over the floor. In the diningroom she flipped the table, 3 of the 5 chairs, all 3 barstools, she ate 2 of my notebooks for school, 1 binder that had 2 years worth of school work in it. She got onto the Computer Desk, she knocked over my burnable cds (150 of them), the modem for the internet, all of my school books, the printer, and all of my floppy disks.
Tomorrow, I am locking her stupid butt in the bathroom!! Damn dog!!!

Of course I have a Chihuahua so she can't do as much damage but she can still chew. I guess I'll have to keep her in her excercise pen for the day. Good luck cleaning up.

I have been finding out though, Huskeys are really bad with seperationg anxiety, especially after a major surgery. Good luck with your dog! | |

It really makes a difference because they have a safe "cave/den" to go to and it will also keep them from roaming around and destroying things. Even though this response comes too late to reverse the day of destruction, you may want to consider it in the future.
btw, when i first started with crate training I thought it was just about putting a dog in their crate, but there is actually more to establishing it as a "safe haven" for them. As a bonus, it will also make them better houseguests should someone else have to watch them sometime.

That's the thing with Siberians -- they HATE being bored. My girl, Summer, gets really destructive when she's upset about something too, although I can't say she's ever been quite bad (close though, if you consider digging her way outside bad;)).
I do agree with the crate training though, although it sounds like she has a touch of separation anxiety as well, so it's best to do some research and nip that in the bud first. Sibes are pretty strong and determined, and I know from experience that a Sibe that doesn't want to be in a crate (a basic fibreglass one, at least) won't stay in one for too long. 5 hours was all it took for Summer to get a hole dug in hers. Panic and a strong willed breed are NOT a good mix.:(
*LOL* I love them, but my next dog breed will NOT be a Siberian Husky.
