It really looks like the symbol of the Nazis. Do you think its reasonable to spend that much just because people were complaining about its design? It is a decades old building.

Heres how things work with stateside citizens and government. If a citizen cries like a sissy, loud enough and so many times over even the smallest thing, chances are they will eventually get what they want -_- If the government hears enough crying and its over a minor thing instead of something of substance the government will eventually capitulate. Especially since its a chance to spend more taxpayer money (and with that funnel some of that money back to other sources through corrupt means, embellishing, etc). All and all I just give one big /facepalm over this

Nope, it works like this in the states (a major reason for the frivolous lawsuit mania of the 90s). I don't think there is a country on earth with zero corruption, just doesn't happen that way. Plus there are plenty of countries where the citizens act like spoiled, self-centered brats.

self-centered brats like in the US? in my opinion western countries are more concern with the national situation than countries in the other parts of the world. sometimes, it's also frustrating to know that some people are so pathetic that they don't care about what is going on with their country. That gives those in positions the chance to fool the people.

hmmm... i thought those tactics work only in developing countries. i wonder which country has zero corruption rate. is there?

Hi Errielle, maybe it does look like, but Hitler used the swastika while it's an old symbol, which is sacred to some people and beliefs, and because Hitler has used it, many do associate it with Fascism and him, without knowing the real meaning of the symbol or it's provenience. It really is a waste of money for the US Navy to redesign the building, and most probably they have taken the decision not lightly. It is very unfortunate the old symbols have been misused and therefore lost their place and value in history. TheFortunes

Isn't it great to preserve the place? and the structure? i think it's really better to keep it. I dunno. I'm not from US but i think it's a waste of money, too.

Yes Errielle, they should have kept it as it is, while giving the people the why of their view, and what is behind the symbol really ;) And I am far from US too, being in Europe, The Netherlands, but here we have also "throwing of money for useless things, buildings taken down, re-building of stuff and what not.Same game as in the US, what Theprogrammer said in his reply. hhaha it's really amusing to note that even countries in europe and the US have those kinds of impressions about these kinds of activities. :) i thought it's only true for developing countries or 3rd world countries. you are very rich countries. we're still under "struggling" countries. we have many reports on corruptions, sad to say. but for me, my country is still beautiful despite some peoples' activities. it's really sad for us that some foreign countries can see the bad activities of our country over the beautiful places it can offer. surely not as beautiful as your countries but still beautiful. If you come to our country, visit our beaches here. here's my blog http://onfooterrielle.blogspot.com/
