I heard that the batteries on these vehicles last a couple of years and then you need to buy a new one that costs about $3000!! I couldn't believe it. So does that mean that instead of pollution from car exhausts, etc. we would need to deal with a pile of dead batteries instead? Is this true?

It is a mistake to think that hybrid cars are any greener. The electricity to charge their batteries itself must be produced often by polluting means. More importantly the energy to produce the car is more than is used by the car in its expected life span. For this reason Land-Rovers are the most environmental of vehicles haveing a far greater life span than other vehicles.

Hi Clamarco808, very good point and a good question you pose here. And I had not heard about this either, thanks for bringing it up. I'll definitely go and look for te answers. Not that I was planning in buying one, as I like fast and nice looking sport cars, but this is really something worth considering for the once about to buy such a vehicle.
