Playoff Game #1

United States

The certainly got spanked tonight. Wang's sinker didn't. Jorge Posada left about a half dozen runners stranded and the rest of the Yankee pitching staff could get anyone out. Wang was pitching on 8 days rest and was too pumped up for the game. For a sinkerball pitcher, too pumped up isn't good. It causes the pitcher to throw too hard and then the ball doesn't sink. And that's exactly what happened to Wang tonight. I expect the Yanks to come out strong in Game #2 behind Andy Pettitte. Pettitte's playoff experience and big hitter's vs a yound pitcher with NO playoff experience should even the series at 1 game each. What do you think??

Do you think that the Yankees are going to win Sunday? I'm not being mean or anything since I'm an Indians fan, I'm just wondering if the home crowd has anything to do with it.

Well to tell you the truth, I had my doubts before tonight's game (the Yanks already won this game) because of the injuries to Roger Clemens. Clemens has hamstring issues, and a few cortisone shots in his arm/elbow. Factor in Clemens missed his last start of the season and hadn't pitched much in the last month. So I did have some questions. However, the Yankees had one of the best home records in baseball and as they showed tonight, they won't go away without a fight. I do think they'll win again tomorrow night and force a game 5 back in Cleveland (where the Tribe is also a very tough home team) So what do you think???

I agree in most of the terms you have mentioned... i do agree very strongly that the series will be tied at 1 ame each tonight... im am so looking forward into watching tonights match... Wang did have lots of issues but i think the whole team needed better stability... Its ok though its "JUST" game 1... Yankees are aware of what is at stake tonight and what isnt .. they will do well

The Yanks beat Carmona the last time they faced him, scoring 4 runs off him. I think it may have been the last time he lost a game, but starting a playoff game at home vs the high-powered Yankee offense is tough for anyone, not to mention a very young pitcher. He knows that if the Indians lose tonight, the Yanks gain home field advantage with the series going back to NY for the next 2. That's an awful lot of pressure to be taking into this game. Pettitte is one of the great post-season starting pitchers in his era and I expect him to put the clamps on the Indians and the Yanks win behind their strong pitching staff tonight. Pettitte, Chamberlain and Riveria... Yanks win 4-3! At least that's what I'm hoping for.... what do you think?
