A Sad 7th Birthday  |

|  On my granddaughters 7th birthday her grandpa passed away. (on her dad's side) She was very sad so I had her and her 2 year old sister stay at my house for a couple of days while plans for the funeral were being made. I took her birthday shopping (I let her pick out her gift and she loved that) and had a little birthday party for her we even had silly string. We all baked, made pictures, played games, and went to the park several times. We laughed and had a good time.
The funeral was yesterday, he was a great man and will be missed.

| |  I'm sorry for your granddaughter. 7 is a pretty young age to lose a grand parent. I lost my first grandmother at 6, and while I loved her & missed her, it wasn't nearly as painful as loosing my grandfather at 13.
I never knew my father's real father because he died when my dad was 9. But we lost his mother and stepfather almost a year apart when I was 11 & 12. I didn't really know them that well tho, it was the loss of my mother's parents that hurt.
But losing someone on a birthday is very painful. While it wasn't actually ON my birthday, my dad died the day after it. This doesn't lead to having the happiest memories of my birthday.

| | I had just turned 31, my sister was 27 & my bro & his wife hadn't had conceived their daughter yet. So, we weren't children.
My niece just this last spring lost her other grandmother, she is 21.
Kindda sad, my niece has 2 other cousins, but she was 15 when her uncle adopted a child & her other uncle & his wife had just a baby when she was 17 so for YEARS she was the only grand child on either sides of the family. Still is the only one on ours (and since my BABY sister hits 50 this year, it doesn't look like its going to happen.) | | | |
