I had the pleasure of watching former President Jimmy Carter being interviewed on the news this morning. Mr. Carter has comeunder attack from the right wing talking heads so much lately they would try and make you think he is the worst president ever. In this morning's interview he gave his reasons for not using military foce during the Iran hostage crisis. I think he showed remarkable fortitude and self-control to go against his advisers wishes for the greater good. As he pointed out, had he sent military forces into Iran, not only would the lives of the hostages been lost but there would have been many innocent Iranian lives lost also. He is a true statesman and a gentleman. I wish that I could personally congratulate him on the celebration of 61 years of marriage!

He has set an example we should all follow. I hope he continues to speak out. He is the voice of reason. While we may not all agree with him, at least he is a statesman. As far as his problems with Iran, he did the best he could. I think he is an honorable and fair man who will be reguarded highly in history. Bush #2 will not fair so well.
