Now that The Evil Empire is out of the playoffs I don't know if George will be too stupid to fire Torre. Torre isn't a starter pitcher. Torre isn't a clutch hitter that didn't get the hits in this series. If Torre does get fired and he still wants a job, he won't be unemployed long.

Right I agree, it's the players who play the game, Torre can't go out there and pitch for them...

I do think Joe Torre will be fired, and I don't think it will be fair. I am a Yankee fan, and I recognize we will lose this series. But no one can handle such pressure like Joe Torre. No manager can be so classy when dealing with George Steinbrenner. I hope they keep Joe, and kick A-Rod out on his rear.

Today ESPN reported that he turned down a one year offer from the Yankees. Sure, they offered him less money, but I don't think that is why he rejected it. He has some pride, he had to reject the offer. Everyone knows the Yankees would be looking for a replacement the entire season he managed. I'm holding out hope the Steinbrenners apologize and get him back anyway.

Did he end up getting fired? I heard the same thing you did when they were playing the Tribe but after we crushed the Yankees I stopped paying attention. Go Tribe tonight!

Thanks for the info. I wonder if he will go to another team... Maybe the Indians so they can finally win the World Series... But Cleveland doesn't have as much money as NY that's for sure!

It's a great chance that he will be, I don't think it really was a bluff, but over one series?

Yeah he is the one who got them to be such a good team in the first place. And some of the players who have been there for awhile like Jeter and A-Rod are getting older and they're going up against younger guys.

No, I don't think he'll be fired. I actually believe Joe was going to call it quits after the season. He made 7 million dollars in the last year of his contract and while he would've liked to go out with another ring, the 4 he won as a Yankee manager will have to do.
His health hasn't been great, he's getting up there in years and I think Steinbrenner and Torre both knew that retirement was around the corner.
Now bring on the Hall of Fame!!
