| Any opinions on Rosetta Stone language skill software??  | | | |  So I'm looking into learning a new language or two and I've heard a lot of great things about the Rosetta Stone software. I checked out their website and they have multiple options for buying the software as follows:
Download software direct:
3 month subscription: 110 US Dollars
(they also have 6 and 12 month which cost up to about 300)
Buy cds and all software to own:
Level 1: 209 dollars
Level 2: 225
Level 1,2, & 3 combined: 500 dollars
So for each language if you want to own the complete and full program you'll pay about 500 to own it and about 300 a year to 'rent it'. Either way it is far cheaper then taking courses (in fact most colleges charge 500 and up per credit for a college course (so each level might cost 1500 a course)
Does Rosetta Stone really work ?

| |  I dont know that still seems really expensive. I too am interested in learning a couple of other languages, however I have found the software alot cheaper at say a used book store.

| | See the thing is it is far cheaper then taking traditional courses. They also claim that their software is designed in such a way to mimic the natural learning that occurs when one is a child and naturally learning their primary language. This isn't just audio tapes or speaking software, the company appears to use images, real life examples, audio processing of your vocals, thousands of audio clips all combined into a learning process similar to natural language learning.

| |  i don't have experience with Roseta stone, but I hear about ir and wanted try it too.but it is just too expensive and the best way for me it is talk to somebody.I have so many books and cd already but nothing help more like talking to real person.

| |  I heard it is quite good, but it costs a lot. I did get a demo once, but my son used it as a coaster and ruined it. It is logical enough and if you do not like translations, you can pick up the language fairly quickly. I guess you get what you pay for. I tried the others, and I have to translated things, and they were quite cheap. The benefits is I could use the Rosetta Stone on Windows or a Mac, but I do not have the money to pay for it.
