A friend of ours has a Boa constricter. He is very tame. My kids got see him and touch him yesterday. This was the first time they have seen one other than on tv. My youngest was all about it. He wanted to pet it and thought it was cold. My older son didnt really want to till he saw his brother do it and not get eaten..LOL!! They liked him but wouldnt hold him. My husband who is terrified of snakes was no where to be found..LOL. I think he went and hid. One day I will get him to atleast touch a snake. My boys said the next time they would hold him. I did. He is a beautidull snake. You cant see in the pic but whne the light hits him he has an irridesent blue tint to him. Very pretty. Have you ever touched/held a snake?

Yep, I've held and petted a couple. Nice creatures. I just don't get why people don't like them. They are so cute and better yet, they are quiet.

One: It depends on the size of the snake weather it hurts or not. If they are under 6 foot they usually dont hurt. I have been bitten by a few. The nice thing is they strike and let go instead of holding on like other animals.

Snakes are interesting creatures and fun to have as pets, but I already have enough snakes in my yard and wouldn't want one in my house too. Most of the snakes around my house are harmless garder snakes. Once in a while though I have come across some of the poisonous ones basking on my driveway. There is a pond and marsh area right outside my backyard and all sorts of critters come from there. So far I have seen eastern coral snakes, cottonmouth snakes, copperheads, and eastern diamondback rattlesnakes. Not to mention the alligators that are floating around a few yards from my house.

Cool. I would love to see that. I would be a little leary of the poisonus ones but would have fun catching the gartner snakes.

I held a big yellow one once when I was a teenager...I believe it was a yellow python. I was terrified and was shaking so bad I thought I'd die. The guy that owned it had several large snakes and lived down the road from where I was staying. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I have held many snakes in my lifetime, in fact when I was a teenager in Texas I used to catch and sell rattlesnakes. I now know that it was wrong to do this but I was young and dumb at the time. I have held a reticulated python that was abut 15 foot long one time and that was rather scary because it was hissing at my ear so I just stayed very still and finally it crawled away from my head where I was able to get hold of it's head for safety. That is the only snake that has had me any bit scared to hold, even the rattlesnakes were not scary. Yes snakes are beautiful animals and they do a great job of ridding our Earth of pest that would otherwise eat out foods and poison us if left unchecked.

Retics are MEAN!! They are one of the meanest around. I watched a show about them the other day. They have one in captivity that is 23 feet long, weighs 200+ lbs, and eats a Goat a month!!! Now I like snakes and all but I wouldnt want to come face to face with this one!

Wow!..When we went to the zoo you would run up to the snakes and pet them and want to hold them...No wonder the boys like them...Watch out for Hemi though, she would be a snack for him...
