Meditation... As we perceive, it is the key factor to control our minds. Unless we meditate, our minds can not be easily controlled. If we think to control mind first and then meditate, then it is too difficult and same as impossible. But practising meditatin regularly and at the same time controlling our minds, is the real path for spiritual realisation as well as mental peace! Are you of same opinion? Please express your views.

I am not a biggie in this, but I am curious here if you will. You are saying if we meditate then we can control our minds? that's the key thing here?

Well, meditation is the key to control the mind which is the first step. Controlling the mind is just the first step. But more than that, meditation is to conquer the mind and the sense and finally and totally, annihilate the ego and realise the Self. The Self has to emerge victorious over the senses. If you practice meditation regularly, automatically, your senses start coming under control, your thoughts reduce, the mind stops wandering and you become more focussed. And slowly, you attention moves inward, and you are more withdrawn from your senses towards your Self. Meditation is a process of conquering the mind and the senses. And it can be done by sitting still in one place with closed eyes or it can be done by contemplating and self-introspection. There are many ways to realising the self. The sufi have their own way of realising the self. And finally the question comes, what is meditation? :) Is it just sitting and concentrating and focusing on something? Or is it overcoming something or realising something? Or is it a process of all the three. So could we say meditation is a process of watching and observing the reactions and changes the mind goes through? Or is it a process of unveiling the hidden truth? Is it a process of realising the Truth? So I would say meditation is a process to remove the impermanent to realise the permanent. :)Hope I haven't said too much. Just adding up to the discussion. Thank you!!!
