What would you do if you saw your job listed in the Job Listings? |
|
I was just surfing around one Sat. night and saw that my clinic was needing an MLT. I was shocked, cuz I'm only part time. I'd be willing to go full time, but they don't need another full time tech. The only other tech is my boss, but the listing said it wasn't a supervisory position... So Hmmm...
So I got myself all worked up about it, cuz it's no secret that my boss and I don't get along too well. Here are some previous discussions if you wanna see some of our background:
http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1235701.aspx http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1235680.aspx http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1252576.aspx http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1239377.aspx
So on Mon I was pretty nervous going in. I didn't know what to expect, I didn't think I'd have the guts to ask about it, and I didn't know if anyone would say anything to me. When I got there, My boss told me that I wasn't going to be on my machine because she wanted to train our phlebotomist/assistant on it!! (OH CRAP!!) Stephanie was NOT interested in learning this, and in most places wouldn't even be qualified since she's not a lab tech. So I felt my heart sinking.
When our Micro person (From a different lab) came in to pick up our send/outs, she asked me what was up with the opening. I was upset and told her I was probably about to be going away because I never fit in with the 'clique' and Lani and I (yeah, that's her name) just seem to rub each other the wrong way. Plus she's always there behind me with the knife waiting to plunge it into my back.
So she went and asked Lani about the ad and Lani said that SHE WAS LEAVING!!!! WOO HOO!!!! Talk about the best thing EVER!!!!
So I went to ask the administrator if any of these changes would affect me. She was very tight lipped and cautious, and didn't really say anything... Hmmm... made me feel wierd again. Then over the next week, there were other things that made me still suspicious. I was hoping I was just paranoid. I will mention more in part II of this discussion.
So what would you do?

1. fredgame (1071) | 3 years ago | Never give in, to know more and get them on the edge you could reapply the job for full time position. they'll come out with their position of not giving you that job position. you apply and indicate you're now a part time and would like if they could put you on a full time bases.Their reply will tell you where they are with you. good luck and this could be a chance of getting a good job.

3. raychill (3493) | 3 years ago | personally I would just be up front and honest and ask my bosses about it. That's pretty bad. I mean I'd just tell them that you were just wondering what was going on...and maybe ask some other people if the bosses were not going to tell you.
Being up front and just asking what's going on can't really harm much.

ChaJudLeoBit (778) | 3 years ago | Well, I asked the administrator, and she pretty much told me that nothing was going on. I asked our lab assistant who is in tight with the boss and she didn't know anything. I didn't want to ask Lani... she's too unstable for me, I avoid conflicts and she's very aggressive.

4. Debs_place (6753) | 3 years ago | Personally, I would update the resume and start sending out some feelers. You never know what is going to happen for sure and this way you might be ahead of the game and who knows...a better off may come along. A job where you fit in and enjoy more
