Competition: By far the most aggravating habit we have as human beings.

No matter what part of life you look at, people are always in competition. In business, people want to make the most money, hire the best people, get rid of the worst people fast, save the most money, etc. Even if they are only trying to reach a higher goal they set for themselves, they are competing against their previous attainment. There are beauty pageants, strength competitions, awards for the BEST music, books, and movies. We compete in gardening, cooking, and creating art. In a previous conversation, I talked about how people are always trying to "one-up" each other with who is sicker, had more stitches or the longest hospital stay. The other day my son was trying to tell me his lung ailment and surgery were far more painful than childbirth. Maybe it was, but I do not think there is a man in the world who would want to go through labor to find out for himself. They are perfectly happy to let the women do that. This is one subject that men do not want to compete about. That is only because they know they really could not do it.
