San Diego, Southern California Fires

My brother-in-law goes to school at San Diego State, but he has been unaffected because he lives in an apartment near campus. He tels me that they can see the smoke and that it's pretty much covering the entire sky.

I used to live in San Diego, too. A lot of my college classmates or their families lived in that area. It's amazing to see exactly what is happening there and be so closely connected with the area. I used to live in Mission Valley, but when I hear Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Escondido, etc., it's hits so close to home. Then I just moved down here to Ventura County from the San Francisco Bay Area and we've got the Porter Ranch fire, the Santa Clarita fire, and the Malibu fire all around us. It's just so crazy.

I also hope that everyone is okay and that we can get through this ASAP.

I'm in Ventura County like the last poster. The smoke has made it very hard for me to breathe. My brother was evacuated and feels like I do things can be replaced, but people can't so he left with his family when asked taking important papers, pictures and his children's favorite items.

I was not directly affected by the fires, but because I live in San Diego and have many friends who live in the outer city limits, many were evacuated and it affected me in ways that I never would have thought. I was very worried for them and offered my help in all ways possible. It was a very tough experience for them because they were constantly wondering if everythig they owed would be burnt to rubble. Luckily they were all okay afterwards. But one of my friends knew someone who lost everything. I now see ads all the time on Craigslist for people who are asking help from others to clean up from the debris.
