Giving out your SSN on these GPT sites

Something that hasn't been mentioned that always concerns me - these GPT and PTC and various other kinds of sites ask for your SSN nad your PayPal numbers/account numbers when you register. I don't like haveing those numbers out there in cyber space and who knows who has them and there they sit. When I register, I don't give these numbers out at that time. I wait and play the game and see how it works. If it works and I can get payout within reason and all, then I give that out but only if I am satisfied with the site and decide to trust it. If the site demands it upon registration, I don't register there. I always wait till cash out time for the PP too.- what if i dont' want to stay with the site or get deleted for some reason? They have my SSN and PP account. Not sure what they can and cant do with it, but with all this fraud and ID theft going on, you gotta be careful all the time. My motto: don't volunteer what they don't ask for.

The only site I have run into so far that asked for your SSN before being paid was hits4pay. I didn't fill it out. This is a program my husband found and I told him that I didn't like the idea that they asked for it online.

I won't join a program that I have to give out my SSN. Now with my paypal address that's different, because they need my password to be able to take anything from my account. With a SSN, they can take my life and then some. I learned fast not to trust anyone. People need to be more careful about doing that sort of thing.

I agree, there is far too much identity theft going on to randomly give your SSN to GPT websites. I've never given that information to a paid-to site and only will if I earn enough to legally require them to submit a tax form (which is $600 in one year's time (Jan-Dec)).
I have no problem giving out my PayPal e-mail address as that is how the sites pay...if you don't give them that then you don't get paid. There's no real harm in giving them that information...just use a different password for that site than you do your PayPal account.
I've joined a few search engines in the past that asked for a SSN and I left it blank and was paid without any issues.
