Do you watch movie reviews or movie trailers?

When you're deciding which movie to watch (either at the theater or DVD store) do you watch movie reviews or movie trailers? Personally, I prefer movie trailers, because they have less commentary and more movie scenes than movie reviews. I like to make up my own mind about movies I want to watch. Mostly, the movie review people just mess up the movies for me. Like when Silence of the Lambs came out, a very famous movie critic made a lame comment about it and almost ruined the movie for me. Turned out to be one of my favorite movies of the decade. Movie critics are rarely right. At least in my opinion. They like all the movies I hate and hate all the movies I love. They seem to delight in ruining the fun of new movies for movie-goers. Maybe they've just seen too many movies to care anymore. The thrill is gone. So, that's why I stick to the movie trailers. Way more movie scenes and lots less commentary. Sometimes the trailers show way too many scenes and spoil the plot line for me. But, that's way better than getting someone's very bad opinion on a very good movie. So, which one do you prefer, movie reviews with the critics or movie trailers?

I like to watch movie trailors when I'm deciding on a movie to see. I find that I don't always agree with the reviews and at least the trailor lets me make up my own mind. The only thing that I don't like about movie trailors is when they show you all the best parts of the movie. It kind of ruins it when you've already seen all the good parts out of context.

I don't pay much attention to movie reviews. It always seems that if the critics don't like a movie, I will enjoy it, and vice versa. We rent a lot of movies, and I always watch the previews on the tapes/DVDs to get ideas for movies to add to my list that I want to rent. I also watch the movie previews on television and make a list of movies coming to theaters that I'll want to rent when they come to video.

My husband usually watches the movie trailers before he decides on what to see. If I see the preview shown on tv then I judge for myself what is good and what I think isn't.

I don't believe in movie reviews, especially those that are in the papers with no mention of the author. Or maybe they're not exactly reviews but just promotional write-ups. And lately I've been finding trailers to not be a good gauge for the movie although I prefer them over reviews. Those that make them make a good job almost always and sometimes I expect too much.

I watch the trailers or review of a movie before watching the full movie. It's a factor for me to watch the movie or not. So that I'll know also what to expect on that movie.
