| I live in Minnesota USA which has hundreds of thousands of acres of forests. Now logging is a big business in Minnesota. There are quite a few companies that cut the trees down and plant many thousand new trees yearly to replace whats lost thus adding more oxegyn producing trees. They truck the logs all over the US. On a short trip the other day up north I must have seen about 50 trucks on the way there and back all heading south. More than likely to the Minneapolis train yards for shipping them to other states. I love ssing these trucks as I know snow isn't too far off not. What type of business is your area known for that ships the product all over the place? Yes, I took this photo from my car as I drove the highway at 75 MPH. HAHAHAHA! Just me I reckon. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ | | Wood Load | | | | |

| | Hello Grandpa Bob I live in middle Georgia. We also have a lot of logging done around here, especially pine. Some of our top exports are pine trees and peanuts. Also cotton. Most of our peanuts have just been or are now being harvested, and we are also in our cotton harvest. I enjoy the cotton harvest because it means the crop dusters are busy and I enjoy watching them at work. | | | | | | |

| | Peanuts, Georgia, ex-president. HAHAHA! Yup I recall those products from Georgia. The corn and soybean harvesting is done here as well. The fields are just stubs of plants left ]till the farmers clear the fields. then it's back to tilling the soil soon to prepare it for next years plantings. Thanks. | | Kewl deal. We have a factory in Cloquet Minnesota that revolves around the logging biz. They make matches, chopsticks, and popsicle sticks. It's called Potlatch. I love watching the logs getting cut into thin sheets of wood then like watching the pulp being processed for the matches. It's a smelly factory and the whole town stinks of wood pulp year round. Ugghh!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ | | | |

| | Logging is one of the biggest businesses here in northern Michigan too. We see the big trucks loaded with logs headed out every day, and several of the guys I know are out there either cutting down trees or planting new ones. | | | | | | |

| | I am from Mich originally. I've been living in Minnesota since 1975. I lived in Alpena and Iron River as well as a few other cities, so I know about the logging in the UP. Thanks for sharing. I was born and raised in Dearborn Heights suburb of Detroit. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~ | | | |

| | I live in the cotton growing centre of Australia. When the cotton is harvested it's all along the roadside...pretty untidy looking I reckon. We also have cattle and sheep and it's a crop growing area too, mainly wheat but also oats, barley and other fodder crops. I serve fuel when required and people come to my door to let me know I'm wanted. Yesterday, a guy came who wanted to know if I had 300 - 400 litres of diesel for his header which was about 5 minutes away. I assured him that was ok. These units are massive, the front tyres are as tall as I am, 173cms or 5'9". To get the fuel in they open a door at the rear, pull down a ladder and take the nozzle up into the works. I was so excited as I'd never been so close to one before even though they drive past all the time in cotton picking season. They tow the cutters lengthwise while on the road...the cutters are about 8 metres long. During operation they are placed across the front of the header. I went back home to get my camera...I live across the road and 2 doors down but I couldn't find it...doh! I love living out in the bush away from the traffic, smog and rush of life in the city. | | | | | | |

| | Well Bob, I'm from Auckland, New Zealand, and Forestry, and it's associated industries (packaging, tissues, specialist wood products, pulp and paper, etc) is a major exporter and employer for the country. Working for the top NZ company as senior Packaging Technician, it was generally a well paid industry from the bottom up. The company also attracted International Paper (IP) from the United States as a major share holder a few years back. After IP sold out, global wood oversupply and competition, cost cutting, etc, the company was brought by one of NZ's richest men (I think for a few billion cash/shares) and everything was stream lined for efficiency...But forestry is still a major business in New Zealand - because there is so much forestry land relative to the size of NZ... | | | | | | |
