Beno Udrih With the Sacramento Kings  | |  I used to believe that Beno Udrih was part of the San Antonio Spurs' long term plans, making good contributions off the bench whenever the team needed him. Apparently, I was wrong. On October 27, 2007, Beno Udrih was sent (along with cash considerations) to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for a protected 2008 second round draft pick. He was promptly waived by the Timberwolves, but he was signed by the Sacramento Kings shortly after. The Kings were looking for someone to fill in the position vacated temporarily by point guard Mike Bibby, who is currently out for about two months, thanks to an injured thumb.
Udrih is a Slovenian basketball player, born July 5, 1982. He played with the Spurs from 2004 to 2007, and he was one of the role players that supported San Antonio's superstar trio of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker. He served as primary backup to Tony Parker, but he's not the type of player, apparently, whom Greg Popovich could rely on come playoffs time. He saw his minutes dwindle during their last two trips to the playoffs.
And now, he's with the Sacramento Kings. I would really like to see how he does with his new team, for at least two months he would be getting more exposure on the court than he used to get with the Spurs. Will he fit in with the Kings' longer-term plans alongside Kevin Martin? Will he still be part of the rotation once Mike Bibby gets back from his thumb injury? He still has yet to speak about his movement to the Timberwolves and to the Kings. How exactly does he feel about being traded from San Antonio?

I do wish his future playing time and fitting in with the Kings. The Spurs are playing well, however with both Duncan and Parker out, they are being forced to play with new rotations and it is a learning process. Maybe Pop is forging a New Younger Spurs Team. When u look at the number of injures that Duncan has had last year, although this year is better at this point. Parker, Manu, and others are carrying the load, however with Parker out too, mmmm.
We shall have to see. I have to g see the score of last nights game with the Lakers, I'm CST..102 to 97, not a bad score considering who was out with injuring.

| id_pop (199) | 2 years ago | Looks like with Mike Bibby now out with the Atlanta Hawks, Beno Udrih will have to shoulder most of the minutes at point guard. He's been reliable as of late, despite erratic statistics in his first few games with the Kings.
If the Sacramento Kings deal Ron Artest and/or Brad Miller in the offseason, they'll be going into a rebuilding mode, and my guess is Udrih's going to be a big part of that. Good for him. | |
