Why or why not?
I have had health insurance through my fiance for about 3 years now. The main reason we have our policy is for our 2 year old daughter. I feel it's necessary to have insurance just in case something happens and one of us gets hurt or sick. But honestly if I were still single and without my daughter I probably would not have insurance unless my work provided it and it was paid for. Our health insurance is pretty expensive since my fiance runs his own business.
So do you have insurance?

yeah you are right it is very important thing.I have health insurance , but in my own country and I am living in usa, so if something happen to me I have to pay it by myself. So hope nothing is gonna happen to me. I will have to be married to my fiancee to have heatlh insurance there is no other way. I don't know where you live but here in usa it seems like big problem I mean people who doesn't work don't have insurance?? Pretty bad, it is not like that in my country.

Actually, Laurika, many people who DO work in the USA don't have insurance. Some people can't get it even if their employer provides it due to "pre-existing" conditions. What country are you from? Many who are against changing things in the US will point to many countries where it's different from here and claim how bad it is there. Is it "bad" in your country?

Hi Annie, i am from europe, Slovakia. And now only if you work you have you health insurance, but also if you are unemployed. You still have to pay it, but it is around $20, what everyone can afford. I was just talking about this lately with my iancee, because he was telling me how many great doctors you have here. But I mean for what you have all those doctors here, when people cannot afford it. I am sorry, but I have never seen so many people in my life with so bad teeth like here in usa. And it is probably because people don't have money for dentist.

Nope I don't have either one. I probably really need it but since I'm not big on doctor's or dentist's I don't bother with it. I know if I was hit with a major illness it would devestate us finacially but there isn't much I can do about it. Hubby is covered for all of his medical with the VA although they don't cover dental or optical.

What country are you in? Health care is one of our biggest issues in the U.S. although there are some people who don't think so. Whenever someone in government comes up with an idea for covering those who aren't covered now there will be protests that it's "socialized medicine". Call it what you will but to me the health care for profit method isn't working for millions of Americans and it's sad. There are healthy, young people who believe it's not necessary to have health insurance but they're literally one illness or accident away from financial ruin. I'm sorry, no one in a country like ours should lose their home due to medical bills they can't pay or have to choose between paying for health insurance or heating their home! Certainly no one should die or become seriously ill because they can't afford to pay for treatments or medication.

My husband has health insurance, but no dental. His boss doesn't offer dental insurance, or if he does it isn't free for the employees. My kids have health and dental insurance through Healthy Families. And as for me, I have none since my husband would have to pay for me to be on his insurance, which isn't cheap. I have had my own health insurance with my kids a few years ago, but I dropped it after a couple of years as it covered just about nothing, except to get through the door. Meaning we still had to pay out of pocket for things that weren't covered. As we were paying almost $200 a month for this I felt we should drop this 'coverage' since it didn't cover anything anyway. I was probably better off putting this money in a savings account every month and using that for medical emergencies. :P

Hi cynddvs! We discontinued our health insurance because we can't keep up with the payment any longer. It is very sad because it got so expensive to get a policy now because we learned that the insurance agent who prepared our papers and documents scammed us. Bad! Take care and have a nice day.

We have both health and dental. My husband is in the Air Force, so our insurance is cheap (I think we pay around $40 or so each month), and it covers just about everything. When I was pregnant with my son, the only thing we had to pay for was some cough medicine when I got sick, because it wasn't something that the base carried in the pharmacy. I think it was $3 or something. They covered everything with the delivery as well, including all the food and medicine.

yes i do have health insurance coverage. i don't have dental insurance though as it's not really an option for me. i've not come across any insurance company that offers dental insurance. dental care is not a big thing in my country. most insurance companies just offer health insurance. my family all have basic health insurance that helps pay hospital bills. we didn't get those that covers doctor's visit as it's pretty affordable. also, they don't cover doctor's visit for chronic illnesses.
