Thanksgiving...what do you eat. |
| |
| Our family gets together every year at thanksgiving. There are the staples, like turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn and the like. In recent years my dad discovered deep frying turkeys. This seems to be a booming industry. Outdoor shops like bass pro shops and cabelas sell fryers designed exclusively for deep frying whole turkeys. You inject the turkeys with seasoning and fry them. Turkey has never been so tender and juicy. The flavors jump out at you like i've never tasted before. Just curious who else has tried this and any other unique thanksgiving culinary ideas. | | | | | |

| | Wow that..sounds damn gross actually. I think my conception of Deep fried however ends up with fast food thoughts of crunchy and having that dirty grease texture to them... My family does not celebrate Thanksgiving...we are a selfish, hateful people and there is no god | | | | | | |

| | Honestly, i'm not aware of what all chemicals are in the injections, but I would say this. Most food is horrible tasting without some kind of seasoning. Whether that be salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, garlic, parsley, oregano, or one or more of several different flavorings. Chances are that at the very least, a turkey is basted with butter before being baked. The only difference here is that the flavorings are injected inside the meat instead of the outside. No reason to be cynical about this, but if you eat a turkey without anything added to or on it, it would probably taste like crap. Yes, pre-packaged injections probably contain alot of chemicals and additives, but you can make your own. Tell me how bad a homemade injection of Garlic, salt, pepper, parsley and smoked apple would be to a turkey? Not very bad now, Huh? | | | |
