Fox Parent Company Sued For Telling Woman to LIE...

The parent company of "fair and balanced" Fox News Network, News Corp, has been sued by writer Judith Regan because a top official advised her to lie about her affair with then Homeland Security Secretary nominee Bernard Kurek to protect Rudy Guiliani. She's suing for $100 MILLION. Apparently even way back in 2004 the powers that be at Fox News were throwing their support behind Rudy for President. Any comments? Let's discuss it! Annie

Sounds pretty juicy, but I don't really have an opinion of any of these people. I think Rudy Guiliani seems like a nice guy. But, if there is a scandal behind his name, who needs that? The last thing we need now is more personal drama in the White House.

To me the troubling thing is that a news organization has such an obvious agenda. I mean, Fox has "opinion" shows with hosts that openly give their personal opinion and this is fine, the other news networks do that too. But for a high official of the company to tell someone to cover up or even lie about something to protect a candidate is nothing short of unethical. It's not really Guiliani's fault but it sure does make anything reported about him - or anyone else - on Fox look a bit suspicious. Annie

Though it was wrong for Fox to ask her to lie, there is no way Judith Regan deserves $100 million for this. 100 MILLION?!?!?!?!? ROFL.

No, she sure doesn't deserve $100 Million but she deserves that more than Fox deserves to get away with this kind of action. Annie

So are we to chastize the son for the sins of the father?

I take it you're referring to Fox News. They've been implicated in the suit as well, according to reports I've heard. I didn't hear a thing about it on Fox, however, so it's possible many of our conservative friends will never know about it. Oh, well... Annie

Ms. Regan does seem to have other fish to fry with Fox News also, anniepa. She is also claiming that she published the book by O.J. Simpson after getting the OK from the boss who later changed his mind. I just heard some of the other charges she has levied against her former employer. This promises to be a dirty fight.

Yes, you're right, this is sure to get very interesting, isn't it? What a shock that a media giant such as News Corps is involved in some unethical practices! Annie

That sure does about cover it! I don't think it was mentioned that at the time (in 2004) he had a pregnant wife. Obviously, this was all before his legal problems had surfaced but even back then News Corps were very interested in promoting Rudy for President. No, I'm not blaming Guiliani for this, we're not responsible for what our friends do. It's just disturbing that a NEWS organization has such an agenda and use such underhanded means to push it. Annie

Not surprised. I'm just mad the rest of the alphabet soup broadcasting networks aren't sued either for their lies, distortions, spins, doubletalking or outright omissions, in well, virtually everything. As for FAUX, they are crap in my opinion right along side CBS, NBS, MSNBS and the rest of the worthless gang. At least I know who is backing what (FAUX = retardicans, Rest of Alphabet Soup with CNN/CCCPNN as team captain = dumbocrats). I'm not surprised at the backing its been obvious for years. I'm not surprised at this development about lying, about omission. All of the lousy soup news networks are guilty of it, in one way or another. I bet there are whole landfills dedicated to cutting room floor clips and omitted information. Meanwhile the real news is left up to the regular person to find on their own (or sometimes capture themselves). Quite interesting.

I know you've got problems with the other TV networks but it's just Fox and their parent company that's being sued here. Maybe there have been things the other networks have done similar to this but if so I haven't heard about it but this suit has been filed and there are claims (of course!) that it can be proven. To ask someone outright to lie is a total outrage and I haven't heard of anything even close to this kind of thing before. Maybe the Fox fans will stop and think now, but I doubt it! As long as there's a network that trashes Hillary 24/7, what do conservatives care about silly little things like facts! Annie

Sadly, I am not surprised. There are always cover-ups dealing with politicians. And now there is room for t.v. networks to be involved.
