NANAY: How I am missing my mother

It's been more than a year now since nanay, my mother, left for US. Nanay is like one of my friends. Our mother-daughter relationship is one of a kind. All mothers and daughters (children) have unique relationship I guess. When I was younger, she would support me in my declamation activities because she herself loves to act. During her HS days she would tell us that she would compete in orations together with her siblings. She used to coach me in those declamation competitions before. She was pretty active in my school's PTA Sportsfest, she would play kickball -- its a modified soccer with a "baseball" set of rules. Anyways, while growing up, we typically had our differences. We would talk like best of friends and later we either have a heated verbal arguments or plainly cold war. But that's just typical or a mother-daughter relationship right? With Nanay, regardless of the time I would come home (either super late or dawn in the morning), she would just be cool with it. With nanay, dilemmas like work-related, does not matter at all. I mean, I always get the feeling of security when I am with her (and of course with tatay). I miss Nanay. I miss her hugs and kisses. Maybe, by the time will see each other again, she'll have lots of gray strands. Before she went to the states, she rarely had white hairs. Nanay, by the way, is a Filipino term of mother. How's ur relationship with your mother? How was she then? Can you share about your relationship with her? Thanks.

My grandmother lives far away and we have a very close relationship through cards and letters. When I first read your headline I thought your nanay had passed on. I am so glad she is still among the living. You have much to be greatful for. My mother is my closest friend, she lives next door. She is going through some heart problems right now and I cannot imagine life without her. You can send your nanay cards, letter, and even small gifts to brighten her day. There is no reason your relationship has to suffer. Haven't you heard? Distance makes the heart grow fonder.

I know. Distance really makes the heart grow fonder. I really miss her. I still have to wait for my papers for me to just visit them. I really want to be with them though. Sigh. Thank you for sharing about your mom and grandma. :)
