| The Presidential Debates - Is It a Level Playing Field? | | | | They just had the 10,000th (or it sure seems like it!) Democratic Presidential debate on Thursday night and as with all the ones that came before for either party the pundits spent hours afterward plus most of the next day talking about who won and who lost. The problem is they only focus on the ones the media consider to be the "front-runners" no matter how well the other candidates do and that's so unfair I think. It's already way too much about the money; the debates should be the one forum where the playing field is leveled but that 's not the case. People are easily influenced by what they read and hear and I'm sure even if someone watched every second of a debate it would still be possible for them to be convinced that their perception of who was the "winner" wasn't necessarily an accurate one. Is it just me or does anyone else here feel all the candidates aren't getting a fair shake? Annie | | | | | | | | | | Local Coupons Ridiculously huge deals every day. | | I agree that the media does not always give fair air time to the people who are considered 'the front runners'. I don't agree that people are easily influenced by what the media has to say, I feel they used to be but they are growing up and learning to stand by their own opinions. I no longer even listen to what the media has to say, I listen to what the event was and form my own opinion and I find most of the people I know do the same. I do feel that there never was a even playing feild for the U.S. debates and there will never really be. Susan | | | | | | | anniepa (11667)

| | I agree that people may be less influenced by what the media has to say than they were in the past but what I was getting at is after the debate you have this nonstop barrage of opinions and spin on who said what and who made the best points and it's easy for someone who doesn't pay a great deal of attention to political matters to "forget" what the lesser known candidates had to say. Or maybe it'smore like they become convinced that these candidates don't have a chance so it's no use to pay attention to them. Some may feel they'll be throwing their vote away if they don't vote for one of the top two or three, but how many may have this same idea?
