How do you get OUT of a vehicle lease? | | Help! I am stuck in a 3-year lease from Hell on my 2006 Ford Ranger. I have known from the first month that it had cold air blowing on my knees and around my feet. The dealer has looked for the source and cannot find it even though this is a new vehicle under full warranty. They put some foam tape around the steering column last February 2007 until a permanent fix was forthcoming from the Ford engineers. About a month ago, I wrote a letter to Ford of Canada President Bill Osborne. His spokesman called me back and said the invoice I had re waiting for a permanent fix was a "lie." My local dealership is trustworthy and did not deserve to have their reputation impugned. So, we have put in another written request for a permanent fix from the Ford engineers. I think they are making Ford Rangers cheaply these days. Previously, I leased a 2001 Ranger for 3 years and loved it. It was warm as toast in the winter. But with this new 2006 Ranger, my knees are sore every day and getting worse. This truck is literally torture to drive. I am half-way through my lease. If I turn in the keys, I am afraid they will put the balance against my name as a bad debt. Surely I have a right to renege on my contract if Ford is not keeping their end of the deal by not fixing the draughts. I have advertised my truck on several lease exchange programs, but they are a waste of money. I have thought of having my truck chopped and burned but am afraid of getting caught.

I noticed you are from Canada which makes a difference of course since I'm from the States.
Anyway, this is the website...www.camvap.ca....It's the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan. It helps consumers that have problems with their cars or trucks. I didn't check out the whole site but it looks very interesting.
Hope this helps some, I don't know what else to tell you....take care and good luck!

| 12cattcatt (2) | 3 years ago | Thanks for your suggestion at to www.camvap.ca. . Been there, done that. Last summer the camvap arbitrator refused to postpone my hearing when my independent mechanic's wife gave birth to a baby. At the time of the hearing, my expert witness (the mechanic) was at the hospital with his wife. The camvap rules clearly state that a hearing can be postponed once it has started. The arbitrator did not allow the postponement because he decided to take my truck for a test drive. It was August. He did not feel the draughts. Therefore he ruled against me. Months later, I found out that campvap is funded by the auto manufacturers. In other words, camvap is a set-up. The odds are stacked in favor of the auto manufacturers.

So it's all about the car manufacturer's huh?...Go figure....I can't even think of anything else you could do. I hope someone can really help you out here on Mylot because that just plain stinks. No one can win anymore.

| 12cattcatt (2) | 3 years ago | Thanks for your suggestion. I have put my truck on lease busters and another site which is local called oregansleaseexchange.com. The truck can be viewed at www.geena.ws. . These exchanges all cost money and it keeps adding up.
Is there anyone who knows anything about contract law and whether or not I can simply walk away from this lease if I have proof that Ford has failed to honor their Warranty?
I do not want to sue Ford as I cannot afford such a "David vs Goliath" battle.
