Is Family Guy going to far? |
|
Family Guy is a great show. I haven't missed a episode, but the newer episodes are doing some very weird things and yeah I still laugh, but some of the stuff might be going over the line.
What do you think?

So if one race or religion says its racist or whatever that makes no since because they do it to eveybody. They could make fun of me and i would laugh at myself!

2. Sillychick (2130) | 3 years ago | I have watched the show, and some parts are funny. I like that they do and say what no one else dares. Kind of like the Simpsons used to be. They were pretty cutting edge when they first came out. Now, they seem pretty tame in comparison.
The things I don't like about family guy is when they have the baby in adult situations. Things like drinking, smoking, and intimate adult scenes. That is not appropriate, and a little disturbing to me. It's fine when he makes jokes about needing his diaper changed, that sort of thing, though.

3. Jshean20 (8020) | 3 years ago | Well Family Guy probably does take it too far, but to be honest I think that's why I love it so much! They are constantly taking stabs at celebrities and just being so funny, I can't help but laugh! I think that if they toned it down, the show wouldn't be as big of a hit as it is today....

I'll probably have to watch and see for myself. Most of the time, I hardly ever get a chance to watch much of the newer Family Guy's. By that time, I'll just like well let's see what happens this week.

5. steele4real (124) | 3 years ago | Regarding your question, i really don't feel that family guy is stepping over the line with their jokes. I may feel this way because i watch southpark quite frequently and nothing can compare to jokes on southpark to the jokes on family guy.

Southpark's entire purpose is to push sociological boundaries, I mean, they had a joke about a chicken-rapist once and even though in real life that would be highly disturbing, in the cartoon it's absolutely halarious. At the same time though southpark knows just how far they can take it. They never actually showed the guy raping chickens.Family guy usually makes fun of celebs better though.

I heard him in an interview on the Adam Carolla Show saying how upset he is about that and how long term viewers might notice a few odds and ends on them.
I personally love them all though.

8. citrusemma (406) | 3 years ago | I agree, family guy is very funny and I've always liked it but also, recently it has been getting worse.
I can laugh at myself- all the stereotypical blondes or taking the mickey of stereotypes that apply to me ... However, sometimes the show goes too far in promoting racism and violence in teens.
My brothers picked up many racist thoughts/ideas from that show... They disgust me! And, in episodes such as the one where the dog gets beaten up by Stewie? That is disgusting! Many kids watch this show, and I'm not one to be faint-hearted, but a baby beating up a dog? hitting him with a stick? Setting him on fire? What sort of behaviour does that promote? Since I saw that episode online... I've liked family guy a whole lot less.

| 9. RaMan19 (32) | 3 years ago | While I agree that this show is definitely not for children there is a simple solution to the problem of children getting bad influences from it, don't let them watch it. It's usually not on until late at night, or on channels that children shouldn't be watching anyway.
