We recently moved to Mauritius from South Africa. It's been tough on my 6 year old. Easier as we have family over here so so he still has cousins to play with, but tough because being an only chld he was extremley close to all those we left behind. Especially his Nan and Gamp. We have nights where he cries and 'whiches the whole world was Mauritius so he didn't have to miss anyone' and thn we have days where he gets to catch a bus for the first time in his life and defnately thinks that where we are is better than where we were. He got to go fishing and caught his first fish the other day. Of course we had to throw it back as it was just a little fishing spot at the local bird park, but the excitement this fish caused filled my heart. It really brought back the rightness of our move, here my little boy can be just a little boy.
