Why hold up the store when you can just grab the cash register and run??  |

|  Crazy as it sounds, these things do happen. My Dad is the General Manager of a convenience store in town called Toot'N'totum. He got called back in to work yesterday because a guy walked into the store and made off with the cash register!! He had been hanging around with a hoodie on and his head down. Then, when the cashier was coming back around the counter from being on the sales floor, he popped to action and grabed the whole register. Lighers flew everywhere, the keyboard was thrown off and left dangling, and he hobbled out the door while the cashier stood watching in shock. It's all on tape and I wish we could submit it to one of those video shows, like "America's Dumbest Criminals". Some guy jumped on his motorcycle and followed him, cornering him until the cops could be called. Then the guy threw the register and his hoodie over a fence and ran. He was hoping fences going through people's back yards and the people in the neigborhood were helping to keep track of him until the cops finally nabbed him. They kept the register for the investigation to make sure the guy they had caught was the one who took it, but they gave the money drawer back to the store. There was less than $50 in the register! I wonder if that would have been worth it. But my Dad says it's really funny to watch on the video. Wish I could see it!!
I wanted to post this before my Mom does, cuz she probably will want to. Some of you are friends of both of us, but we have different friends also, so it won't be that big of a deal if we both post on this subject.

| |  That is pretty funny. I think grabbing the cash register could have worked if the guy had planned it more thoroughly. I mean, you don't just grab it and walk out. You need some kind of distraction first. Maybe, like have someone yelling and making a fuss over nothing in the back, drawing the clerk away, then grabbing the register and exiting in a getaway car. Oh well. At least justice was served :)

| |  oh man that's FUNNY! my goodness. i always wondered why people DO rob lil convenience stores? there's never much money in that is there? i would not risk anything, just for $40-50. that's so silly. i have been desperate at times, but i ask family, SOMEONE always has $50 it seems, haha! weird....that just is NOT worth it and do these guys NOT watch the dumbest criminal shows? there are always convenience store ones on there.....oh my!!

| |  I don't know about where you are, but here, our cash registers are generally plugged into the wall! lol. Snatching and running would be pretty hard to do! lol. I can just see it now, the person comes in, grabs the register and bolts for the door, only to be bunjeed back into the counter, cracking his head and ending up unconcious! Actually, I think you are on to something there! lol.
