does anybody know why rottys are so overprotective of their owners?

my brother has a rottweiler(wilo) as well as me he brings his dog over to my house every week so that he can play with britney(my girly rotty).his dog won't let britney get too close to him, but britney won't let him come too close to me either. anydody have any logical explination for this behavior???

Rottys are loyal to their owners who feed them and raise them. They think it is their duty to protect you by all means. My rotty does not like anyone apart from my family and watchman to even stand infront of the house. It does not even like my watchman blocking his view if a visiter is enter the house.

I had a Rottie for 15 years- he just passed. :( Anyway, I think it might be just the breed- the "Rottie Lean" is a good example of their protectiveness. They tend at least my dog did to protect everyone in the family but he was most protective of me maybe because I trained him and he knew who his master was. That would be the only thing that makes sense to me.
