wedding rings, which hand?  

thanks janmags, is it really culture preference? i am researching it now why left or right. i am really curious now for the details since this has come up... if anyone knows the answer to this, please post it. thanks

ok guys, i didn't want to start another post so i am continuing it here. i made some research and what i found out is that everybody that post here is right and their own way. first and foremost, in western countries, they wear the wedding and engagement ring on the right. because our heart is in the left side of the body. also it is placed in the left ring finger because the vein there is believed to be directly connected to the heart. so it is really symbolic of love. others will say mambo jambo or whatever but it is kind of poetic and this reason suits me best. so in other countries, their right hand is always considered lucky, so that is where they place their wedding rings. so everyone, thanks for all your posts. this was centainly worth posting for. my curiousity is now satisfied. hey jenny, thanks for your post. however, since you say its tradition, whose tradition? because there are so many cultures with different traditions. and if that is the tradition in your country, do you know why. there is usually a valid explanation for traditions such as this. thanks again and be well.

As far as I can tell the left is the norm in America.:) Good luck with your knowledge quest.

Yeah, left is normal in America. We tend to wear both engagement and wedding bands on the third finger of the left hand, and the way I was taught is that the wedding ring should be worn closest to the body, with the engagement ring worn closest to the end of the finger.

hello pretty, i hope for the best for you too. anyways, you are right. actually, my husband didn't propose to me. it was a decision like "we are getting married" right from the start. i guess we are really lucky that we found each other very early in our lives. i honestly think he is my soul mate.. hope that for you too.

thats a nice point of view lucky, however, what about if you are left handed? wouldn't your left hand be more stable than the right? anyways, good point. be well
